748 Carbon Seat Support

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by Estranged, Mar 11, 2015.

  1. Can anyone tell me if I can get a carbon seat support to use on a standard road sub-frame?
If not are there any options to do the same thing?

  2. Yes you can. But as I was told when I sent a spare to someone on here, there's about 3 different types.
If you just want something to do the job I have my spare back, I think. I've had the box back for 6 months but not opened it. If you want something to show off to your mates as a bit of bling though try looking places like Bursi Evolution in Italy or Desmo Racing in France. Both seem to still have stock of some rare parts.

  3. What type of subframe do you have? These are photos of the different types. The top one is the 748RS type and the bottom is from a 996 SPS which has a P8 ECU.

  4. 1037, just looking for something to do the job, nothing fancy.
    Red, i've got a 1.6 ecu subframe.
Thinking of doing a 1098 engine/loom install. Just thought, the RS style subframe should work as the 1098 ecu aint installed back there...

  5. In that case you can actually use either subframe if you go the 1098 route. The 998's used a 748/9*6 subframe with the ECU near the battery and the 916/996 SPS used the much larger ECU and in which case you can use the support in the second photo with the right subframe. The P8 ECU'd race bikes used to have the ECU mounted at the headstock so even a race SPS subframe would work

  6. Cool, thanks for that info.
Well I say cool, means I gotta wait for one or the other to come up for sale then hope I can get hold of the other part that fits...

  7. The SPS style is more common, that is what I found when I looked for one a few years back. Both are no longer available via Ducati but Gowanloch in Australia used to have the 748RS seat support for sale at one point.

  8. Bursi Evolution have one for a 916/996 for just over €100. Andy

  9. Well, I'll have a route through me garage and try and find what box it was in. I'll send some pics and if you want to give it a try I'll post it out, if you're happy £40 and you can keep it. If not just post it back.
I remember it not being finished. No holes or Dzus fasteners.
If Bursi have got some at 100 euros that wouldn't work out too dear at current exchange rate. But first I'll get the pictures.

  10. @1037sps If he's not happy with it can he post it to me :)

  11. Try Sebimoto...they have both styles @ around £40 each.

  12. Well I found mine, offered it to the bike to take a photo and it doesn't fit! The tail which bolts through where the OE latch fits is too short. It doesn't reach the mounting holes on the subframe. There'd be ways to bodge it on but it's not what I'd want really.

But at £40 new I'd say try Sebimoto above anyway.
