Headlight Fairing Movement

  1. Had a great night at Poole Quay last night, first visit, loads of bikes, great ride out. However, with it being my first venture in the dark, I got a couple of shocks, first, the headlight was so poorly adjusted that I was getting flashed while on dipped and when I hit full beam it went dark as the beam was so high it missed the road! worryingly, I've been riding it like this for 4 months!, Secondly, the movement of the whole fairing was causing the light beam to wobble quite a bit.
I've adjusted the headlight a few handfulls to get it close but feedback on the fairing movement would be appreciated, I do have Aztec spacers fitted but can't think they would affect things too much. Cheers, Rivets

  2. Interesting about your headlight beam ... I ran my bike in from new during daylight hours , took it out one eve and after 50 miles or so it started to get dark , headlight beam was just as you describe , so high even dip beam was dazzling other road users and main beam was lighting up the overhead tree branches !
Havent noticed any fairing movement though

  3. I've had a few drivers showing disapproval at my dip beam & yet riding behind my mrs in her corsa she says its fine. No probs with the fairing. As far as i'm concerned, anything that helps draw a drivers attention to the presence of a bike is a bonus. I often use high beam when filtering

  4. Thanks for your input guys, bike's booked in for a headlight correction and a quick checkup on the fairing binnacle for security on Saturday at Riders Bridgwater, I had a quick "wiggle" of the showroom bikes and I'm sure they feel a little more rigid than mine, I'm sure it will all come out in the wash.

  5. My bike was just the same; delivered with the lights pointing skyward. It's not difficult to adjust them with a screwdriver. Think I marked a line on my garage door one evening sat on the bike and set them to the correct height. It is still crap that dealers are not checking them prior to delivery though.
I did get my dealer to re-wire the headlights so the dip beam stays on with main beam which does give a much better light where there are no streetlights, they did give me the line that if it melted anything it was down to me but everything still works fine over a year later.

  6. Same here, dealer adjusted at 600 mile service

  7. Riders Bridgwater have sorted the bike, the fairing is quite a bit tighter now, it seems my slack handfull of adjustments was bang on for the headlight so no further adjustment required. Many thanks to the team at Riders, very helpful in sorting my slightly paranoid issues.
