Hi guys, Last week a had the last run with the bike. It needed a bit of tlc, so after a week the bike wouldn't start anymore. To rule out a lot of problems I checked the following: Fuel pump primes. Spark oke. Injectors measured 12v and are pumping air. Inside tank checked no problem found. All electric plugs solid. Starting with stand in. Poured a bit of fuel in and it ran for a couple of sec. Fuel line under fuel tank correct installed. Blk on blk and White on white. Still no fuel to injectors. Rpm shows data. So last thing I checked if there maybe is a problem with the quick disconnect plugs. I put a little screw driver in the hole and the blk gave full when pushing the spring to open, but the White didn't, should it give fuel when manually pushed? Thx for the help in advance. Cheers Nick
sorry i cant help ya mate.. would ave thought there was someone on here that could though!!! bit strange!
Check to see if you have a blocked breather either in the line from underneath the tank or the vent holes under the fuel cap. It sounds from your description you might have fuel potential starvation.
Thanks for reading and answering Red. Well its not starvation, but no fuel at all. The feedline is completely dry and the injectors are pumping air. The weird thing is it ran fine a couple of days ago, so I think nothing is blocked. just removed the tank to clean the airbox etc and installed it again. I'm wondering if its possible that the Q connection doens't work properly, because when I push it manually with the screwdriver the black connector start running fuel and the white doesnt. any ideas?
I believe the white was is the return connecter, check your fuel filter and the fuel lines in the tank, one may have split.
Correct blk is feed White is return. Will check the lines inside tonight, could they going loose with just a removal and storage??
Nick, your problem would seem to be logically associated with refitting the fuel tank. The bike ran before you removed it and now it doesn't. The quick connectors are challenging and not for the first time, I have had to remake the connections a couple of times to get it right. Do inspect the small 'o' ring on the male part which is easily damaged and could prevent the connector from pushing home. Andy
I follow what you mean now and I mistook your comment on the quick disconnect plug as being the electrical connection to the fuel pump. If I remember correctly the 748R has petrol pipes that are held on at the injector end by pipe clips as opposed to Oeteker clips. Can you remove the feed pipe and check that fuel is pumping through the pipe to the injector?
Thx for the response, the o'rings are good, and the pipe connects fully home. It's a real pain in the ass. Will check the lines in the fuel tank tonight (if there's time) but I can't imagine that from just taking the tank off, the line will go loose inside. The lines in the box are connect with factory clips, don't want to loose them if not necessary, the white connector is completely dry when removing from the connection, so my guess there must be something wrong with them....
Can I test the fuel line with just the black installed and crank the bike, there should come fuel from the return one....
I don't see why not, the return is only there to relieve excess pressure when fuel is flowing through the circuit. I assume the fuel pump in the tank is flowing fuel if you say you can hear it pressurising. Which in itself might mean you have a pipe blockage. I guess it's possible the wall of the fuel pipe could have collapsed. The latest fuels do have a detrimental effect on the rubber pipes and I know of two instances where pipes have leaked or failed due to using modern fuels on older bikes.
FIXED!! Fuel line between pump and filter was disconnected. Strange though as I only removed the tank. Anyway thx for the much appreciated help!!!
