having seen one yesterday, and tried for size stationary, I am really tempted to chop mine in. I have an S Touring skyhook, have used the panniers once and dont mess with the settings that much Thing is, budget doesnt allow for an S if I do, so would have to be base model. Do I need an LCD screen? Skyhook is ace but sure I can set the bike up for me and just add a little preload for when the missus comes along, not a biggy. Am used to messing with suspension so not too worried, and less to go wrong Doesn't come with panniers anyway, not sure about heated grips etc so would have to buy in addition. What have others gone for? Many base models ordered?
Saw a post earlier about being able to get the LCD as an optional extra and it links via Bluetooth???. Needless but it's a tasty item.
I've ordered S model mainly because I do a lot of two up touring and I trust the bike to set the suspension up better than I can. Got the touring and urban pack too.
The point about skyhook is not static adjustment. It's dynamic, continually adjusting based on many factors, even more with the new model.
i have skyhook now and until recently have been really impressed with it. But I've never ridden a non skyhook one so have nothing to compare to
I ride with music through some BT headphones. I also have a BT intercom on my helmet. iPhone connects to both, when a call comes the helmet com interrupts the headphones and I have the volume way up so I can hear the caller even though I have headphones in. End the call and the music resumes. I think this is mostly the nice way the iPhone handles the BT priorities. Works great for me. I can see the point in the BT though as it makes it seamless with music controls on the bike. Music whilst riding seems to be marmite though. Some people seem to think you're the devil for doing it.
Depends on the riding. If I'm out for fun I won't bother with music or my helmet BT. If I'm commuting to a customer on motorways, on goes the music and headset.
I had a base 2012 and now have a skyhook,i have been thinking about a change to the dvt,i would 100% go for base model, the standard suspension on my 2012 was a lot plusher than the skyhook and as said only a couple of clicks on the preload when 2 up.At 13k the base seems good value.
I currently have a 2012 S which works well but, like bradders, I rarely adjust it. If I go for a DVT it will be a difficult choice but on balance a base model might well be the way to go.
2015 Ducati Multistrada 1200 FIRST RIDE Motorcycle Review- Photos- Specs: Complicated, yes, but a seriously good ride aided by Desmodromic Variable Timing. Nice write up and comparison between S and base For the extra 3k? You get cornering full led, DSS, the colour screen, BT and remote handlebar connection. But still need to buy heated grips, panniers, centre stand I think looking at the specs. Seems to me a £1500 back door price increase. Cheeky beggers
Grand Tourismo....to change would feel a come down.....I'm not going to say a smoother motor isn't going to be welcome in town @ low revs but on the move at 4k revs and above/with an open throttle what's the problem?
I was pleasantly surprised by the seat hight when I had a sit on a base model with standard seat in low position don't know if the sky hook is the same height, it was lower than my 2014 PP with the factory low seat with out feeling I was sunk in the bike. One gripe though why aren't the rear indicators bloody led FFS, I bet they cost the same as bulb ones at production.
I will hopefully test ride the tomorrow I am very confused in between standard and s version . Standard version should be more then capable for anything I do mainly two ups touring ,commuting and weekend blast. But I don't know if it I'll worth the extra money for two ups . Do you guys have a delivery date yet ? Is it June ?
I'll hazard a yes. Its the versatility of changing everything at the touch of a button. Anti-squat and anti-dive. The 2013 Skyhook was lauded for its piliion comfort and handling.
