848 / 1098 Modifications - what did you do ?

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by Dubs, Jul 31, 2013.

  1. Just had the DP mirrors repaired and fitted them now. I think they look miles better that the standard ones and am looking forward to seeing if they offer better vision on the road.

  2. Are they narrower than the standard ones mate?

  3. Yes they are by quite a bit. On the downside, the indicators are very dim. But I knew that before putting them on.

  4. Sorry late in replying, I don't know mate it was on bike when bought. There are no markings on it to tell me who made it

  5. No bother mate, thanks anyway. I think I found it.

  6. Belt service & oil filters etc, also added more (yes I know) carbon too

  7. Speedy moto top yoke fitted. Needed to drop the forks about 10 mm to get the fork tops flush with the yoke. Raised the bars about another 10 mm and now have about a 30 degree sweep to alter the position of the clip ons. Going to have a ride about on it to see if I want to fit the helibars for more height and comfort.

Second photo taken before moving the clip ons. Had to strip all fairings, right down to the air tubes in order to get to the bottom yoke! Happy with it so far.

  9. Quick question what's should be the rev's on tick over?

  10. Varies from bike to bike. I'd say any thing between 1000 and 1500 is good for a V twin.

  11. My 1198 is always around 1500rpm (and loud as hell at the lights) whereas the 749 is a constant 1000rpm.

  12. is yours ticking over high? have you done a TPS reset after fitting the pipes?

    ian

  13. It's about 1400 to 1450, what's a TPS reset and how do you do it?

  14. throttle position sensor. needs to be reset every now and then especially when you change the silencers, exhausts... you need the software and a lead to do it but is easy. don't think this is the cause of your problem though as i've just seen your other thread. maybe @chrisw could help you out.

  15. Idle is controlled by the Idle Control Valve on the throttle bodies. It's a stepper motor controlled needle valve and can get gummed up. Flushing through with carb cleaner can help. Unfortunately the tank and airbox have to come off to get at it.

  16. Fitted rear number boards today, what a pig of a job. They look ok if not scrutinised from close up, but at least i can use them as a template to show the spray shop what i want done.

Slowly getting there with the mods, have the clutch to do next, but need to decide on a colour for the plate; am thinking blue.

  20. I have those, are they the DP ones? Use them once and your heels mark them. At least in my case.
