Ok....first big ride today, 300 miles in all. What's good? The engine, the engine the engine. It really is a peach of a power plant. The handling. Makes my previous 2012 MTS seem like it was crap. The handling on the new bike is so easy, accurate and precise. It is a joy. The tyres are a vast improvement over the original Scorpion Trails. I would re fit the new uns, no question . The gizmos: all brilliant and all make a difference. Loved using cruise control...in Europe that's gonna come into its own. Fuel consumption: noticeable better than my old bike on this run. BUT I am still running it in so haven't been ragging it. I will reserve judgement until later but it's looking good. What's not so good? For me the comfort is not as good as my old 2012 bike, well for long stints in the saddle. I'm 6'3 and the arse/knee arrangements are not as good. My Airhawk seat is therefore still an easential piece of kit. The full colour screen? What a load of sales bollox. Full colour when it starts up and usual black and white in normal use in daylight conditions. The display is however better with lots of info. Major compliant: and this has been in another thread, the screen plastic is completely and woefully inadequate, you look at it and it gets marked!! Mine has been carefully wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and it looks like it has been sand blasted. I will be making a warranty claim for a replacement. Utterly shit quality. Be warned! Did I do the right thing trading up. Niggles aside, no question!
The screen on the demo bike was badly scratched. That's going to be a massive headache for them. Thats a major f*ck up.
Ducati just can't help themselves can they? The designer must have been thinking; Right, that's the misting up problem sorted (it has gone - right?) so what can we do to make sure people keep coming back to the showroom.......? Crap rationale for sales but it doesn't seem to stop us does it? I'll be getting home this weekend and plan a visit to the dealer where I'll check out the screen et al and probably shake my head in bewilderment as I go for a new DVT. Who's the mug I wonder?
I wonder if the internal PCB is protected against water (mod style, perhaps a PTFE coating), but I doubt it.
New R1200GS dash screens do exactly the same. I will no go out in the cold and jump in an ivy bush for mentioning a GS on this forum. I am sooooooooooooo sorry  Mates 2014 ADV 1200 dash looks like a magpie has beak pecked it to death!!
