Multi bike with Ducati. RSV4 Factory APRC and DVT 1200s £420 Fully Comp. That'll do nicely!! Bennetts where £500 and Carol Nash £1000!!
Just phoned CN again they won't insure me for a new DVT and a 899 (neither owned) and a KLX250!! Yet Ducati Insurance will.....with the same insurer (red star) which is weird.
Just had a reminder off Adrian Flux that they were going to automatically renew my multi bike policy on the 13 Mutly and my 13 KTM 300 for £325. So rang them to say I'd just sold my KTM and not getting another one, and I'm about to part x my Duke. She said no problem sir I'll cancel that renewal. So I thought what the heck I'll ask her for a quote on a new DVT as I'd read there could be problems insuring the new model, no problem she replied and asked if I'd hang on the line whilst she searched. After what felt like hours (probably 10 mins) she came back on the line and said no problem sir I've got you a quote for £300 with a £500 excess ??? I might be able to figure it out one day. Now the phoning around nonsense begins.
I spoke to Ducati Insurance today about the cost of changing from a 1200S Tourng 2013 model to a new 1200S DVT - the increase in premium would be about £60 for the remaining 6 months of my existing policy - OK not too bad. £500 excess, up from £250 - OK I can live with that. Then they say "any claim would be rejected if the motorcycle was stolen with a 500m radius of my house and it wasn't in the locked garage" - WTF, before the excess was doubled which was OK. I've questioned this change to the policy but will probably have to live with - so no stopping off at the local shops, I'll have to go home and lock up the bike in the garage and walk back to the shops.
hey guys, how come I've been charged 1900£? I'm living in london, ducati insurance, thief/fire comprehensive with 750£ excess. I only got 1 year claim bonus (here in the UK).. bike mounts GPS tracker and it's parked in a garage with security and CCTV, my licence is over 10 year and ofc never had to claim anything. :Hurting:ead:
It's not a case of enforce - I need to have insurance and that's the terms on which they will provide it. I couldn't be bothered to shop around and anyway after discussions with mates it appears to be a clause that is becoming more and more common.
Insured with devit , 32 years old 1 year no claim , bike trac tracker, garaged at night , London commuting , two up. £1000 exces fully com, cost me £706 monthly payments of £59. I am happy with it and yes the bike is ducati multistarada 1200s 160hp
I Insurance companies don't like to say, "We don't want your custom so fuck off". They prefer to quote some absolutely preposterous figure, on the off-chance that that the occasional sucker will actually pay it.
The High Quote was Ebike who I have been insured with before, which did surprise me, as generally they are quite good, maybe it is because there is no history of a new model, it just wacks everything into highest cost mode as possible, also I do get the impression ebike do not like expensive bikes
just paid a tank of fuel under a grand ... my rear end feels a tad tender :Blackeye: but brand new multi in 3 days!
I've gone with Adrian Flux, Ducati insurance quoted me £370 with the 500m rule of it being stolen near home, Adrian Flux quoted me £307 with £250 excess and no stolen near home rule.
