Well on Sunday I said farewell to my 1199S after being fortunate to have owned it for 2 years. It certainly was a baptism of fire being the first bike I had ridden in 23+ years! What an experience. All is not lost though. A new bike will replace it physically, (not sure in terms of experience) at the end of June but I really do fear that the loss of all hell breaking loose at 8k rpm will be sorely missed. I really don't know if I will regret it! I can't wait however, to take delivery of the new bike so only time will tell.
Out of interest, and i understand if you prefer not to say, what sort of part ex did you get on the 1199?
Got the base 1299, phenomenal bike. I noticed on your old bike there is no protection for the clutch cover etc - is that normal for italian bikes. I'm coming from Japanese bikes where I had all manor of slider and protector. On this bike I'm not sure I want to do anything like that in case it ruins the appearance.
They sell a carbon thingy to protect the clutch cover. Not sure which is cheaper, the cover or the clutch-cover itself ! Got one on mine which has done it's job when my feeble little arms failed to hold it upright when stationary ( Doh ! ). Ducati's are a bit like BMW's.... everything useful is a cost-extra.
