Booked into protwins to sort the clutch lever out. Pull the lever in and about half way the clutch gets stiff and graunges. Real nasty it is. Only a year old with 6000 miles. Pro's suspect clutch master cyclinder. Anyone else had this problem?
Does the clutch still operate? Is the graunge coming from the lever mechanism or from the clutch itself? Is the full stroke of the lever available despite the stiffness? How stiff is stiff?? How is the fluid level?
Yea fluid is good, clutch does still operate. Sometimes it sticks so bad I think it won't disengage all the way but it does. Hard to define where the graunge comes from its felt in the lever but I think the noise is from elsewhere. I recon it probs is master cyclinder but just wondering if anyone else had this issue and what it was?
My 2011 had a graunchy slave cal especially in wet weather, however I also had both levers replaced under warranty for extreme corrosion at the lever joint.
Just as likely be the slave cylinder, the OEM ones are hopeless. Replaced mine for Oberon, much better, lighter action, smooth, not affected by rain....
There doesn't seem much to stick in the master cylinder and the lever pivot, even if worn, shouldn't really cause much of a problem. I wonder if the pushrod could be sticking? Springs do make a noise when you pull the lever in. maybe the clutch is choked with dust and the pressure plate is making a louder noise than usual when it's being pushed against the springs? Can't help wondering if a good clean out and greasing of the pushrod might sort it.
Characterrisatic rather than fault Bleed the mc at the top, 30 sec job, I do mine evry 1000 miles or so
