1200 DVT Anyone Managed To Pair A Zumo 660 To The Ducati Multimedia System

Having messed about a lot with pairing iPhone, satnav and helmets etc to the multimedia on the bike this is what I have found to be pretty much fool proof for connection.
1st
Make sure that all Bluetooth devices have all up to date versions
The bike should have version 4
2nd
To pair any device to the bike it goes like this
Put bike in pairing mode ( see manual ) and put device in pairing mode ie iPhone
Then DONT TOUCH THE DEVICE YOUR PAIRING YET
when the bike has found your device press pair to that device, then the bike will ask your device to input 0000 so now look at your device and input 0000 then it will pair up
Jobs a good un
If you find for any reason you still can't pair is most likely that one or more devices is not up to date

Worked it out, you've got to
let the bikes multimedia connect and wait and not connect through the 590. I tried to connect through the 590 without success. But if you let the bike find the connection instead of the satnav, all goes smoothly.

 

I'm struggling to understand what the benefits are of the bike's Bluetooth multimedia if, like many, we already have something like the Zumo 590 which competently handles satnav, multimedia and phone.
The 590 works fine so I've stuck to it, although I might use the bike's multimedia with my phone if I go out without the 590.

 

Good question. The only advantage I've found so far is that you can change tracks and volume control using the left handle bar switches

 

I've been trying over he last couple of nights to pair the 660 to the multi without success. sat nav up to date. bike found it last night but wouldnt finish pairing. tonight the bike wont find the sat nav. the sat nav finds the bike. off to france in a week so wanted it all to work. bugger

 

Why is the Garmin Ducati branded satnav so bloody expensive ? Whats so different from the normal one ?

 

I think mainly the answer is in your question, the fact that it maybe shows the Ducati logo as it boots up. You can do that with a Garmin 660, not sure about the new breed though.

Likely that there is a nice Ducati logo in the 'Where To' menu as well which leads to a list of Ducati dealerships that you can navigate to. If you want that on a regular Garmin (or TomTom for that matter) then you can download the files below:

Not quite as swish in so much as once installed on your Garmin it will be under the 'Extras' icon in the 'Where To' menu.

Best to just drop Ducati-Dealers-Europe.gpi into the Garmin/POI folder in the root of the internal memory of your GPS. Reboot the device and there should be a listing if you go to 'Where To' > 'Extras' > 'Custom POIs'. Ducati Dealers Europe should then be in there, select this and you will be shown a list of dealerships in distance order from your current location. Just click on one and then 'Go' and your sat nav will take you there.

The above run-through was for a Zumo660, your device may vary.

 

I have spent some time trying to pair the bike and Zumo 660 without success. The bike pairs with an Android phone just fine, but not the SatNav. As you say, "bike found it last night but wouldn't finish pairing".

I notice than on the 660 you are obliged to specify what you are pairing with, and the only options are "Phone" and "Audio". Tried each of those options, but neither seems to suit pairing with a motorbike.

 

Tried Garmin customer support and they couldn't sort it. Said speak to Ducati. Gave up in the end and Paired sat nav to interphone and that plus the phone to the bike. Few issues of stuttering voice on directions but seems fine that way. Sounds like new sat nav needed but will see how I get on in france where I need it more than here
