Ian beauty is in the eye of the beholder... and it IS an ugly pup... but I loves it I does! because it is different... (you can say that again! I hear you cry!)
Should be good, ignition pickup is the same type, water pump drive shaft OK but you would need the 748 crank (unless you want a stroked 748) and longer head studs. It's a good idea to plug the vertical cylinder oil feed hole (shown in pic) as the 748 doesn't use it and it can leak, I tapped mine with (IIRC) a 4mm thread and loctited a grubscrew in there after it springing a leak after I'd had the heads off.
Well I now have an 851 frame, a Verlicchi swingarm (cantilever type which will be morphed into a rising rate type) and a set of seemingly rare Marzocchi MR1 forks... I have a magnesium clutch housing and some magnesium 851 engine cover plates. I have loads of spare wheels axles footpegs brake discs callipers and various little bits and bobs..... so the Ugly Pup will be ready to start once the F1 rep is finished...dont hold you breath though the F1 has taken me nearly 3 years so far and it is still only about 75% through... I keep changing my mind about things on it :biggrin:
Getting another two sets of M1R forks, courtesy of a kind chap here on the forum! So I will stick one set on the F1 rep and one set on the "ugly pup!" also got a set of original race brakes and have found a tank...unfortunately it is owned by a Ducati specialist dealer in Japan...havent yet asked him if he would sell it to me though!
Eh...how come everytime I have a break away from the site, when I come back the pics on my threads have changed? there are supposed to be pics of a Ducati prototype and now there pics of gloves???? eh! Anyhow.... ARRRRRRGHHHHH! someones beaten me to it!...theres me wanting to build a replica of a very rare bike... and some Slovakian git has already done it!
