Ducati 748r Running Badly After Cut Off From Cps

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by DucRider, Jul 21, 2015.

  1. So the problem occured during my trackday, I went out of the chicane turned on the gas and had a cut off at 10000 rpm, this happend before and I reshimmed the Crank positioning sensor (CPS), not good enough though. Any way after the cut of it was running really bad, used a lot of fuel and I hardly made the paddock. Track day was done L
Several days later I’ve checked the following (with some help of Red998):
Cam timing, all dots are aligned.
    TPS set at 150Mv
Fuel (lots is coming) injectors working properly
Plugs (replaced) there is a spark
Checked all wires for corrosion, nothing mayor found.
Disconnect checked/cleaned and reconnected the EPROM
    Replaced the CPS.
So as of right now, when I start the bike its hardly running and smoking a lot (blue) no oil but fuel, in the garage its hardly breathable J
My guess timing is a off, flywheel and timing gear are oke. Are there any more items that involve the timing?
Does anybody has more ideas? Before I send it to the dealer.
    Cheers,
    Nick

  2. is a 748 carb or injection? done compression check?

  3. Inject. Compression not done, I don't have that tool, and it has enough to run, so I don't think there's a problem with that. Thx

  4. I'd be inclined to take the plugs out and see if it turns over smoothly by hand...

  5. Got all the earths connected?, had the battery disconnected lately? Sounds like what happens on a car when injection earth not connected, or disconnected/dirty ambient air temp sensor connection?

  6. deffo
5mins with the compression tester will eliminate it. did ether or both of the plugs tell you anything?

  7. Listen to Fin. An engine with a bent valve might still run but run badly - rather like yours...

  8. hmmm, belt jumped, belt valve, low compression, turn it off.

  9. Well I hope not.....I'm done with it and scheduled a big service for the bike. Will keep you guys informed. Wondering which of you guys is winning for the right answer....

  10. Sensor? Air?

  11. if there is a prize then deffo me. all info with symptoms with solutions is a winner for anyone interested :upyeah::smile:

  13. Do you run a duc shop or something?

  14. nah, humble back street garage.

  15. 2nd cup of tea doesn't solve not having any tea bags.

  16. It's a diesel duc shop................

  17. Be
    Best sort...

  18. All torque ;)

  19. I've finally got the bike back today. They told me the eprom was bad simple as it is. They did a good service and some head work, the bike changed dramatically, a real nice runner now with some good ponys, another good job of the good old Biggelaar [emoji3]
