best is probably a matter of opinion i was using... cant mind it cost about £50 for 4lts i now use millers 10 40 fully synthetic dont know the full retail, cost me about £20.
I'm using silkolene pro 4 plus 10w-50 and k and n filter. Gear changes are silky smooth and it runs perfect. It's not cheap tho but you pay for what you get with oil...
Is the Eni motogp 10w60 good to make around 6000 miles? (10000 kms) or should i search something like motul shell or motorex with higher API spec ?
Motul 7100V is excellent and cheaper than the Factory Line 300, fully synthetic unlike the 5100V which is only semi.
check the specs at the bottom of the container. something to consider, how and where you use it. and how many miles before you change it.
The trouble is that modern synthetic oil is now so good that there is no point in trying to find anything better. Engines do not wear out these days and even if they did then it would happen many years after most of us had disposed of the bike. The only time you will have a catastrophic failure because of oil is when the whole lot dumps from the engine for some reason and it does not matter what oil you had in it it is going to be wrecked. The only other way to cause a problem would be to use an oil that is thicker than what Ducati tells you to, it puts more strain on the oil pump and if that fails you are in trouble. Think that your doctor will treat you for high blood pressure when your blood is too thick to save the strain on your heart. So when you put that very expensive 10/60 in (which is thicker than Ducati recommend) you might be putting too much strain on the pump when you could have used the 5/40 and had no problems for years.
