Best Way To Mount A Gopro?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Adamwhittuk, Aug 7, 2015.

  1. Hello,

Just been bought a gopro camera and was wondering if anyone has any tips on how/where to mount it on the bike as i dont have a clue.

    thanks in advance

  2. Somewhere private and from behind would be my suggestion :)

But seriously what bike do you want to mount it on to ?

  3. Haha, i have a 899. Do you know if the gopro suction mounts work well?

  4. Don't know about the suction mounts but I know a few who have mounted on fairing using sticky pads

  5. ;)

  6. I've used the suction mount on the tank of my D16 without any problems. I also have the sticky pads on my track nose cone and tail piece.

  7. Forget about fitting one, watch youtube at some other Saddo riding the streets, at home while drinking beer. Saves on fuel and possible interface with cars.

  8. Got mine on a Ram mount from the side of the frame on my Monster.

  9. Think you'll be limited to stick-on or suction. The bar mounts are good but don't normally work on clip-ons. Also depends what you're doing with it. When I'm road riding I won't mount it where it can film the speedo. You also want to mount it where you can reach it to turn it on and off unless you want massive files to edit - again fine if you're doing 20 minute track sessions but a lot of boredom on a 2 hour road ride. I haven't sorted a mount for the 851 yet so will watch this thread with interest. If using stick-on or suction it would be wise to tether it too.

  10. There is loads of free software to trim down AVI or even Mpeg 4 and loads of other file formats so that shouldn't be a big issue and most are pretty easy to use.

  11. I use a suction mount, fixed on just behind the fuel cap which if you have a clear screen gives a nice wide view as below. The only issue here is that the speedo is in full view...

  12. I have a sticky mount in front of the fuel cap. I use suction mount on a flat part of the fairings and I also have a sticky mount on the (track)seat unit. I always use a tether as I don't fancy losing £300 worth of camera

  13. I have my 30quid 1080P gopro replica on the rear seat as per above pic. I can switch it around so it either films me moving about on the bike, or films my mate who is riding behind me. I also have a contour hd mounted on the RH side of my helmet, that gives a cracking view going forward and gives quite a nice bit of exciting looking footage. On mine it seldom sees the speedo unless im looking down.

As ive several of the stick on mounting plates, im probably going to stick another one on the side of the bike, so I can slide the rear mounted camera into it to get some nice cornering footage.

  14. if the camera can see the speedo then place some tape over the numbers to obscure them .

  15. Put it in the bin and buy a Drift HD!

  16. Front facing surface of the top yoke with a GoPro sticky pad.

  18. Have a cheapo ebay jobbie, sj4000, and fitted to tank the pic jumps like a bean in a hot can. Unwatchable
