1198 wheel spin

  1. A work mate who lives near me has a CCM and it might be for sale Paul, You interested ? i know the history and it's been well looked after. let me know.

  2. Maybe, depends which one etc. tried craigs a few years back and found it mega soft

  3. Proper super moto one with lights, will ask him in the morning what model.
    He never use's it now.

  4. Having noticed my Tc lights flashing on earlier, rather earlier than i would have expected i've turned it down from 8 (of 8) to 5. It does seem smoother....
Ps wouldnt the TC system detect the difference in wheel speed if the front lifts during 'keen' acceleration and shut off the fuel?

  5. Think it allows an element for power wheelies, not sure about proper wheelies, but tbh why have a 1198 and keep it turned all the way on?! Surely thats way too intrusive, why not just buy an 848 ?

  6. I keep it turned on for the same reason I wear a crash helmet, leathers and gloves. In case.....
I agree it can be intrusive which is why I've started turning it down a tad, after 2500miles I'm trying things out. After all I'm just a fat bloke wobbling round on a machine which has so much more ability than me, I'm not Mr V. Rossi worrying about the last 0.1 second per lap on a Sunday afternoon....

  9. saucer of milk

  10. hahaha Mr V Rossi has got a lot more to worry about than 0.1 seconds a lap more like 10 seconds a lap lol

  11. It's a bit old thread, but it seems a very good ones to explain diffrences between TCs and why are done this way if anybody wonders: both the 1098R and 1198 ones in early phase act on timing advance, then the 1098R ones cut spares - this is the true racing way, it's a bit rude but once it gives power back you'll recover it fully immediately - while 1198 one act on fuel pump / injector being more smooth also on recovery when its action ends.
On a street legal bike you can't actually choose, the 1098R way works only with no cat exhaust, the unburned fuel will take fire into cat damaging it.

The way to be sure a 1x98 has DTC is check for its ecu into rearset, you could always download 1198sp firmware into your bike ecu, then seeing into dashboard both dtc and dqs, but none of them works without dtc ecu
