Bike is a 749 that has gone down on the left side such that it is a write off. Good news is that it did not cost much to buy it from the insurance company. The left footpeg took most of the landing force and its mounting lugs are now bent inwards touching the swinging arm. Have tried to heat the area up and bent outwards without success. Can anyone provide a solution and get this bike back out on trackdays? Thanks in advance keith
Thanks Steve The paint is already burned off alright. I was getting a little worried about the Ali swing arm up very close behind. Are we talking cherry red? I was using the footpeg bolt but that was bending under the leverage and that bothered me to be honest. I do have some Ti bolts , they will be stronger i guess. Perhaps i'll have another go. If not it may be a case of grinding the old one off and welding a new lug on.
I had to in bend my L/H frame tabs on my 848 last year. I just bolted up the old rear set with fixed peg and whacked it with a mallet. If the tabs are anything like those on the 848, they should move away from the swing arm quite easily. Hope this helps. Ian
Thanks for the encouragement guys. I usually use a length of scaffold pole that i like to call "the old persuader" in the same way you describe steve. Like i said the bolt was bending so i backed off. Looks like i will revisit this and use a Ti bolt
