Not only was the entry height lower than authorised but the loop was poorly executed and the pilot only had 40 hrs on Hunters.
It would appear, from the preliminary investigation, that it was actually a grave misjudgment by the pilot...
Looks that way. Sad but it does happen. Not everything can be made 100% safe and nor would we want it so.
Pilot has been discharged from hospital and is being questioned by police. His location is being kept secret.
the whole thing is tragically sad - hard to imagine the extent of his mental state, he must be in hell.
I assume he'll be seeing a psychiatrist for a good few sessions. He'll be able to read all about every victim in the press, he'll know all about their families and their cut short future prospects. Utterly mind destroying.
not nessassarily bravado,, just a mistake in judgement,, we all have had them. like the driver who lost controll of his rally car in Galicia last week end,, that was not bravado, but tragic circumstances also .
Hopefully being pilot error will mean that the HSE bunch will be less pushy in disbanding air shows over land
hse or police? they seem a bit confused up here. Compromise over armed marines display at Scottish Airshow - BBC News
Weird... Plod objecting to RM being armed ? I'd trust a Royal with a loaded weapon a lot further than I'd trust any armed policeman !
We are talking about the Socialist Republic where weapons of any kind are banned, along with alcohol, speeding and fun of any kind. Nippy Sweetie will not allow it.
that's an interesting one and many comments will now follow. I don't agree that he should be 'brought to justice' - I feel sure he is already suffering a worse sentence than any imprisonment/other finding that may be served on him, could ever bring.
As @cherod rightly pointed out it was probably a mistake in judgement, rather than bravado as I suggested or recklessness as you suggest, and he should be held accountable for that but what would be an appropriate charge and penalty if found guilty. This wasn't a criminal act IMHO, but then I am no lawyer.
