From a dealer on a new dvt, will add my pp is showroom with full luggage, full termi, heated grips, centre stand ect ect.
OK cheers. Bahnstormer BMW offered around 11500 on mine. I think Hyside offered around 11. Oh and Aircon - hope you get a decent payout from your insurance especially given the pain and inconvenience you're suffering.
I need to get a look the bike in person, as I'd like to buy the salvage if it's the right price. How much do you think that might sell for?
He added some words too, I didn't know wtf was going on. It depends on the damage aircon, you may have to negotiate between the reimbursement and the price of buying it back.
Sorry everyone typing on a Samsung S5 and cannot see the screen. I (Post reply) then edit what I can see. Further I'm on some serious drugs and if I see I've missed bits of information I add it. This thread started as a cut and paste from my accident thread in the lounge.
My cat C 848 with scuffed & bent termis, engine cover and scuffs to RH panel (neighbour ran it over whilst it was parked out front), it was a £3k salvage buy. Mileage was low, hadn't even had its first belt service. Bought it and sold it straight on for £4.5k without touching a thing.
This exactly what I was looking for. Real world experience, as most of us know what is supposed to happen.
The insurer's engineer is coming later today to assess the damage to the Pikes Peak. He spent a long time asking me questions including Do I think it is a Write off? Further he made a big point about= If the frame is bent or damaged then I will not be allowed to buy the salvage. I said the fame isn't bent or broken.
Careful, they're sneaky bastards. They'll be all pally with you and if you say the slightest thing wrong they'll have you on it. Tell them it was booked in for a desmo service and needed a new set of tyre for example and they'll knock something off the value. As far as you're concerned they're the best bikes Ducati have made and yours was a showroom model.
Engineer has just finished. He got to £13300 worth of key components damaged and stopped at the petrol tank...He didn't go any further back nor checked the engine. Agreed replacement price of £13200. Under no circumstances will I be allowed to buy the salvage.
Good work then sir. Just on with your recovery now and you can get yourself a scrambler. Insurers seem to have moved pretty quick. Who were they?
But will you be getting proper compensation for your broken leg, ribs, hand, loss of earnings, pain and suffering, etc? Personal Injury (PI) claims are complicated and may take years to work out.
Good outcome. I think you would have struggled to get within a grand of that if you sold it privately (sans bling though).
