Me got trouble findin de neutral!

  1. Maybe you can improve things, maybe you can't.

Older Dukes (and the 900ss would be one) could almost never find neutral at a standstill. This was true of my 851 and the 906 and 907ie.

Can't remember about the 916 - think it was easier but not perfect.

There is no such problem with the later Dukes. The 999 finds neutral with no difficulty and all the later ones I've test ridden (Streetfighter, Multi, Diavel) are the same.

Trick is to find neutral as you roll up to the lights or whatever. Or just build up a hugely strong clutch hand. It's a wel-known foible, but I'm not saying there isn't some species of fix - just that if there is, I never worried about it enough to implement it. It was just one of those quirks, like the flip-up sidestand that you learn to live with.

  2. Thread Hijack sorry in advance...Ah...but you don't need to live with the flip-up sidestand, I never have as I hate it, not because I would not get used to it, but just did not
like the idea at all...easy solution, cut away the lug stopping the spring moving all the way forward.... see pictures.
