Hi, anyone recommend torque settings for handlebar cap screws? Was replacing clipon bars and musta got heavy handed and sheared off a screw holding the brake mount in place. I have a torque wrench.. just keen on general fixing settings in this area. Thanks
Low readings on a torque wrench don't always give a very accurate torque setting and I have broken a bolt in the past even though I felt it had not got anywhere near the right torque as the wrench did not "click". I now use a torque screwdriver for jobs that require very low settings and use appropriate bits. Much more reliable and less likely to cause damage. It is adjusted through the handle of the screwdriver and comes with a short tommy bar for slightly higher settings.
Haynes for 916/996/748 but I expect pretty much the same. As Red, I also snapped a bolt waiting for a torque wrench on a very low settings to click.
A few moons ago the useful icon used to be a spanner symbol - it was widely used as a symbol to say 'you are a tool' in retort to banter and such like. As @AirCon was the instigator of this meaning ElT changed the spanner icon to a fan (for aircon) - so 'useful' from then on meant 'you tool' to the people who lived through the change
