1200 30,000 Mile Service Costs

  1. Hi All,

So what have people been charged for a 30K service? My 2010S is at 29K so it's looming. Local dealership mentioned £1000 in conversation which seems a bit high to say the least.

    Thanks!

  2. I paid 850 for a 15000 mile service, which I believe is the same, earlier this year. That is for a 2013 GT. I was quoted 620, but they wouldn't stick to that price, so next service will be done elsewhere. Others where coming in at the 800 level.

  3. Interesting. Thanks! £620 sounds more reasonable!

  4. £600 to £800 is about the mark, depending what replacement parts are needed (brake pads? chain & sprockets? clutch slave cylinder?) and how many valve clearances need altering. £1,000 is pretty steep.

  5. 600 if they're cheap and not a lot needs doing...800 and more if the rollers and some bits start needing to be replaced, the issue is if any parts need to be replaced as well when they are doing it...

  6. Is this the Desmo service, my light has just come on but as the heads were rebuilt a while ago and the clocks replaced I'm not sure if this is that correct service interval?
(It probably is. I just didn't want to have to do this before I sell/trade the bike for a DVT)

  7. Hi.

Can I ask why your heads were rebuilt, and at what mileage?

  8. Most get their heads replaced due to the original coolant leaking through micro pores in the heads. New heads and new coolant (pink) are the fix. I've had mine done at 5 years and 7000miles. Now 7 months and 7000 miles on. Previous owner really should have used his bike more [emoji6]

  9. £830, for my sports tourer st3s. 38k miles. From Ducati John (specialist)
I always run with 3-4 year intervals on the big service!
    included:
    Belts
shims (1st time its required some)
    fork seals (leaking)
    plugs
    oil
    filters
    balancing throttle bodies
    etc.
Bike feels better, and I've known John for years and I happy it's done reeeeet.

  10. Did mine myself including a fork oil change. I had to change 4 shims. The bits cost around £250. The fuel filter cost an eye watering £35. It's just a Mahle KL97 that you can buy for around a fiver, fitted with 2 o-rings and a couple of plastic clips.

  11. Just been quoted £250 for a belt change and valve shim check. Extra if it needs them.
Oil etc. I do myself so not worried about that. Seems a fair price to me.

My Multi is about 500 miles from needing a 15,000 mile service, I'm contemplating doing it myself as I have what seems like half the bike apart to change the broken gear-change return spring. Thinking while it has all the bodywork off and no coolant I could take the radiator off to access the front cylinder head more easily. I've done belts & shims a few times on my 37,000 mile 916, have you any idea if the Testastretta motor is easier or more difficult in comparison?
Also do you reset the service reminder - if so how? Or do you just ignore it.
When I asked my local dealer how much they said they weren't sure as they haven't done one for ages. Doesn't fill me with confidence!

  13. The testastretta engine is easier to work on in its 749/999/848/999 variants but the MTS is a bit more work. Access to the belts is awkward, the airbox has to come out of the way but you get the hang of it. I use Multistrada Lite to clear the service light. On a bike with that's over 5 years old with 37K on it DIY servicing is less of an issue. A younger bike with less miles might be a different matter.
