  1. Not if Rossi
Deploys the same tactics as Marquez this year
It could cost Marquez the title

  3. Mr Hayden rides the mile flattrack...respect,my avatar is now neutral

  4. :grinning::grinning:Its done nothing will change that.

Thought it funny when I finished watching hitting the apex last night they are talking to Lorenzo about when MM passed him hard on the last corner and Lorenzo wouldn't talk to MM. Funny but was Lorenzo saying MM had Ben in my ass the whole race, reminded me of Valencia.....

  5. didnt deserve it? there has been alot of shit posted on here of late (granted a lot of it by me) but this takes the biscuit! yes he may have won the championship in 06 without winning fuck all races but 3 is 3 more than the bulk of the current field will ever achieve as long as they live.. he toughed it on on the duke for years without complaint and was unceremoniously cut when they started making progress. perhaps if he was on a factory duke now he would be doing better than dov!
anyway more the point is he achieved many gp podiums which he grafted for and as far as i can remember has always conducted himself in an exemplary manor. never met the guy but i do think he his attitude and manners are things that the rest could learn alot from.
anyway any gp rider upon leaving should be inducted to the hall of fame, prior word champ or not.. just getting there to begin with is an amazing feat that only 30 (ish) each year outa 6 billion odd get to do...

  10. I think this has to be one the best articles about, even though he admits to being a Rossi fan like myself you can tell he is also a true racing fan. Unlike some of the Rossi fanatics on here! I hope they read it but with some of the crap they have been coming out with no doubt it will fall on deaf ears

  13. I thought that Mat Oxley's piece was very logical and well reasoned. What he didn't go into was Rossi's mental state and how he motivates himself.

As with any top individual sports person in order to win they have to believe that they are the best. They will also try to make the others in their sport believe that they are better than them and can't be beaten. This is what Rossi managed to do when he was riding for Honda and is what sportsmen like Usain Bolt have done.

Rossi no longer has the psychological advantage of being unbeatable. He has to rely on his own self belief. He can't allow himself to believe that he can't win. If he does that his career is over. He has to blame other things for his inability to win. It can never be his fault.

Rossi has to believe that Marquez helped Lorenzo. To him it's the only logical explanation. If he doesn't believe that he accepts that Lorenzo won due to his superior ability. That would mean Rossi having to admit that he isn't the best and isn't good enough to win the championship. As long as he continues to race he will never allow himself to believe that.

  14. Face palm away all you like,Robarano old bean, but the figures don't lie.
Eight Spaniards on the provisional entry list of 22 riders, with five of those on full factory bikes, not including the Aprilia. And another one on a top satellite bike,Tech3.
IF MotoGP starts to lose some of it's popularity, packing the grid with Spanish riders,(no matter how talented),and sitting them on most of the best bikes won't help the cause.
It's not hard to imagine that many of those who support Rossi's cause are not doing so simply because they think he is hard done by,but because they might see him as the underdog in this situation.
Not forgetting that Dorna own the rights to MotoGP of course...

LOL fair play mate.. just reread what i posted and although it was meant in good nature it may have sounded a lil harsh.. not my intention. glad you like a wind up and didnt take it the wrong way!
Still dont agree with ya views on hayden though! anyone who gets as far as the gp is a great rider and anyone who can stay there for a decade and have a title to his name surely has to be considered as a lil bit good? yes his achievements and style might not be on par with some he has raced against but its all relative...
even though he was relegated to an open class bike and has hardly featured in the headlines of late, he's a class act and a champ that truly deserves his lil slice of history.
also probably the only rider the no one in the paddock has a bad word to say about

  18. Bike racing in Spain is not popular because there are so many Spanish riders. There are so many Spanish riders because bike racing is so popular. The Spanish just love the internal combustion engine.

In the UK, bike racing is on a par with canoeing as far as the media is concerned, and maybe less important than sailing. Mainstream opinion in the UK still sees bikes as oikish conveyances for people who are irresponsible or can't afford a car. I find it significant that although William and Harry are bike (indeed Ducati) fans, there is very little reporting of this in the media. It might even have created a groundswell for people to re-evaluate the acceptability of bikes, but it hasn't.

Corporate sponsors are not interested in putting money into things with little return. MotoGP is not only no longer on the Beeb (lack of viewers and interest, apparently), it's not even on ITV or Sky. How would you sell that to a potential sponsor?

The nation knew Barry Sheene (Rossi levels of charisma) but that's about the only racer they did know.

Would bike racing be more popular with more British entrants? Clearly not. The Brits have totally dominated WSBK almost since its inception and no one outside bike fans has ever heard of it.
