1198 Gear Change Rod For Jhp Rearsets...

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by AndrewS, Nov 18, 2015.

  1. I know this is a bit of a long shot, but anyway...

I got a set of JHP rearsets with the 1198S I bought recently, but there is something strange about the gear shift rod - it has the same direction thread on both ends, whereas the standard Ducati item has opposite threads. This makes adjusting the gear change lever a right PITA. I don't suppose anyone has the dimensions of the JHP rod or even better, one for sale??? I've been in touch with JHP but they can't can't help with this.

    Thanks in advance

  2. how long is it required to be, and what thread size?

  3. OK, just been out to the garage... The rod is 192mm long and bronze in colour (I think the JHP rod is black?). The thread at both ends seems to M6 and both screw in clockwise (i.e. they act like "normal" bolts).

  4. Sorry, cant help. The rods I have are 180 female ends or 210 male ends :(

  5. Thanks anyway!

  6. Thanks Steve - I probably know someone who can make one for me but I want to check the dimensions so he only has to make one! I think someone on here sold an 1198S recently which had JHP rearsets - I'll drop him a pm.

  7. you can buy left hand dies easily and left hand thread rod eye ends are also easily available, however if the rods are the right length to start with you don't have to adjust them, I make my own rods up out of stainless when ever necessary

  8. If you need one making, I can help out. Just let me know the size required.

  9. Many thanks for the offer, but see my next post!

  10. Steve (and Ken)

Thinking about it, you're probably right - once set I'll probably never need to change the length of the rod. I think I'll have a play with the rod as is and see how i get on.

    Thanks again
