  3. Amazing the crap I keep

  4. Was about to get all jealous thinking you had just got a 998

  5. Cream R I was thinking about you today :)

I had searched suspension set up yesterday. I Had found a post about your 996, but it went a bit off topic...

I am looking to set my 998-s up, as stock first, after recording the current settings, I assume it has Ohlins rear and showa front.

Are these non stock settings from someone credible?

I did a suspension set up change on a supermoto from some bike mag after a racer took the stock bike out, and it transformed it... I hated that bike up to that point.

This bike has some questionable handling at low speeds, which I want to sort out.

Could I purchase this from you?

  6. Hey.
Threads going off topic, find that a little hard to believe.
It is from a copy of MCN from 2002. It has lots of the popular sports bikes of the time and I kept it as it has a GSXR600 set-up guide. It transformed my bike

I want to keep it but if you like I will try to scan the relevant 998 stuff and mail it to you.

My 996. I took note of how it was, which was fricking awful, and put it half way between stock and a setup guide (performance bike from memory). Totally different now. Few PSI of air pressure in tyres makes a huge difference. I really noticed the other day when I hadn't ridden for a few weeks and air pressure was down.

I never did the ride height properly but I think it is about right, if anything too high. But it's gone from almost unrideable to knee scratching sublime. [emoji2]

  7. That would great CR, much appreciated. I will reimburse you any costs etc..

I am not sure how you Private message on here? I don't really want to put my email, phone number or address on a public forum :(

I Could meet you at a location of your choice and collect it from you?

I'm a little bit north of where you are not far from where that car show was.

  8. PM sent.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  9. Nice on creamy :upyeah:, they are decent fast road settings if my memory serves me right.
Dont forget spring rates will have a large effect if your fat feck like me. 5 rings at the front is a lot too, though I ran a very high back end to put weight on the front when I used stock suspension.

Fiddling is fun. (not in a Rolf Harris way I must add)

  12. OMG, my first useful from an award winner! (shame #3 is upside down but lets not dwell on that)

  13. NCF, let us know how you get on.

  14. will do but won't be for a while, have a lot going on at the moment and I won't get the bike if the weather is bad.

I can't see where it mentions how much the forks stick through the top yoke? I need to print it so I can read it more clearly. I don't have stock settings to work from if that is the base setting they work from (and it is not listed) - I have not had a proper read yet but it looks good.

I have found this, which might also help?

    Thanks again.

  15. Stock are on the 4th but should also be in the handbook.

  16. The handbook does give base settings for the front and rear suspension, however up to a point it means nothing if your bike was not assembled to those settings when it was new. My 998 when new was way to high at the back on ride height and clearly had just been put together from the crate and no consultation made as to what the correct settings would be.

No doubt some bikes have remained unaltered from new as buyers will have unwittingly thought that they were in fact set up as per the factory specs.

  17. Hi all

Can anyone confirm if this is the proper Ducati tool? It might be as it came with instructions written in Micky mouse English and Italian. From the photos I've seen on forums it looks like it might be. But is the hole at the end for another pin similar to the rear spindle cone? If so, would the measurement go from centre to centre or centre of hub to the top of the shaft?

    Thanks, Ian

  18. That hole is handy for hanging it out of the way though. ;)

  19. its the correct general shape, though its not ducati oem. The oem unit will come with a cone that fit in the rear axle to form a datum point. I dont have a cone so just measure to from underside of ride-height tool to top of rear axle nut.
