so I take the bike to this garage (which for now will remain unnamed) for some works. when I go pick the bike up earlier today I notice the bottom left of the dash screen is now showing extra pixels. the guys at the garage were very surprised (as was I, too say the least)..... there are NO signs of anything that might have hit the screen on the display, or on the unit. other then that the display works perfectly. and they swear nothing happened to the bike. they installed the carbon head fairing so I thought maybe they inadvertendly messed with some of the screen wires? or could it be some short circuit with the battery that caused it? has anyone seen this problem? do you guys think it's something I will be able to have repaired under warranty? windows 7 print screen image hoster
actually they are pixels permanently on. this is visibile even with the dash turned off. but it's strange as they don't have the size/hue of the pixels used on the screen.... weirdest thing... any other idea?
Looks to me like a thumb has squeezed the screen in that bottom corner. Check the back of the unit as it may show the squeezer geezer's 'dabs' .. if you don't want to loosen it all off to look for finger marks behind, use a small mirror
ok I will check. they were adamant they didn't do anything like that. we tried to press the screen and it's very stiff. you would need an enormous pressure to damage the screen that way...
As Lee says - although I can't back it up with any sound reasoning it does look like moisture or even an acidic/alkaline residue probably contained in a liquid form (brake fluid?) has caused the screen to 'light up' just going by the shape of the affected area and the fact it is on the edge. Surely Ducati UK warranty/service dept would have come across something similar before?
