848 The New Rear Lights

  1. Now have the TST rear light fitted with the modified indicators. With everything switched off the back looks just about standard except for the smaller indicators.

  2. I do like the look of them. Can you run them without the smaller indicators on? Just wondering why you'd want the smaller ones on too.

  3. Yes I could. The LED indicators with brake lights were fitted first because an experienced biker who was following told me that the standard brake light was crap in sunny weather. This improved the visibility of the brake lights but the indicators were then not as noticeable. The TST tail light then cam up for sale on this site and was added.
I like the look of them all together at the moment, but might disconnect the lower indicators at a later date.
The LED indicators are not much smaller than the standard.

  4. I've fitted the TST light and debating whether or not to disconnect the indicator part and to fit separate indicators. I like the way you've got both working as indicators. Are the wires simply splice together between the TST light and the indicators?

  5. As the TST and the rear indicators, as in the picture above, are all LED and use almost no power, there is no problem connecting them together.
I would suspect that even if you had standard Ducati indicators with bulbs then these would also work together with the TST light, but I have not tried that myself. You can buy some nice replacement LED indicators from ebay for less than £5 a pair and those would be my choice over the standard bulb items.

  6. Thanks for the advice. I've bought a pair of Rizoma Avio 21's and was planning to disconnect the indicator cables from the TST light and connect them to the Rizomas but after seeing yours i'll connect them all up together. I was planning to fit a tail tidy and remove the indicators but i've had a concern about my insurance and unwanted attention from the police. I'll post some pics when it's all done.

  7. Attention from the cops and MOT testing may be a problem in the UK, and if I still lived there I would probably fit some hidden switches to get around any MOT issues, you would only need tiny dip switches as on the back of the TST light as there is very little power going through them.
We don't have the same problem here as we don't have any sort of MOT for French registered bikes.
