848 848 With A 1040 Stroke Kit.

  1. I 'm about to buy a 2010 848 with the stroke kit for 1040, the bike is with 9000 km of which 3000 km with the kit in 1040 . I know the owner and I know he always took care of the bike , but what worries me is the engine reliability. Should I expect problems with this engine ?

  2. depends on who built it, if it was done properly no reason why it shouldnt be reliable mate.

  3. One issue raised recently questioned the robustness of the main bearings. The OP upgraded his to 1098/1198 just to be sure. Might be a good idea to ask the seller. Andy

  4. Thanks,

I will contact the seller and ask about it.

Thanks, i will ask him about that 2!!!

Besides the engine, with What do I should I care? As i said, the bike has 9000 km(5600 miles) and has never been to the track.

Sorry about the poor english :(

  5. Your English is better than my Spanish (?) so no problem. Just make sure that the bike has been serviced regularly and that the belts and valve check have been done. That is the expensive bill. Andy

  6. Wouldn't it just be easier to buy a 1098?

  7. I 'm not buying this bike just because I like the 848/1098/1198, but because it is the bike of a friend which is known to take good care of their bikes offered me the bike by a value 20% below of the market.
The reason is that he is going back to Switzerland.
As this is the only 848 with the 1040 kit in in Brazil, I do not know if this kit could bring me any future problems.

  8. My thoughts would be

Do you still want to be friends with him? If it goes bang might be a bit awkward.

Is the 20% you save more or less than a new engine?

id be happier buying standard every time but I'm not a betting man.

  10. I've read good reviews on the conversion. As said above, if it has been well looked after and the conversion done properly, should be ok.
Power wise... Should be about the same as a 999R. :upyeah:
