  1. Hi all

I would like to get a slipper clutch for my track bike, can't afford/ don't want a new one and need to know how to spot a good second hand one.

what are the signs of one that's worn out?

  2. If it's worn out people tend to stick them on e gay .

  3. Beware of imitations on ebay. I have seen so called Ducati Performance clutches being sold new on eBay cheaply and if you get close to one or make the unfortunate mistake of buying one sight unseen then you might find that they are very poor imitations of the original and don't work well.

It's best to try and buy a good used one from someone you know or at least have a look at it in person to inspect it for wear or damage.

  4. Sage wisdom would suggest you look for a ball and ramp and not just a ramp.

  5. I bought the JHP/ ducati performance second hand for £375, complete unit was like new with little wear at all, saying that I luved the sigma slipper I had on my last bike, if buying without seen it get some good quality photos as its very easy to see a well worn clutch, the sigma had a little more drag than the jhp which I prefer tbh

  6. Thanks for the help guys.
I only need the inner hub part that gives the slip action and not the outer drum so wear isn't an issue there. It's mostly identifying the condition of the ball and ramp section that I don't know about.
If there is visible groves that the ball has worn into the face of the ramp, does that mean it's useless or is this to be expected and will give serviceable use?
    Cheers

  7. as well as the complete slipper hub you will need the outer cover also mate

  8. Surely if a 3 ramp slipper clutch is good enough for the Desmocedicci D16RR, it should be fine for us mere mortals ? Andy

  9. I had an MPL one, great bit of kit

  10. Hi Steve, not sure that I got my point across. Many would agree that the D16RR is probably the pinnacle of the engines designed and built by Ducati. If a "simple" (and far from cheap) 3 ramp slipper clutch is good enough for it, surely it is good enough for a track day bike. I have used one on a 748sp based 853 track hack, got one in my 748R and one in my current track bike, which I have used in both of its engine incarnations. Like everything else it's all about personal choice and I have not been given a reason to be unhappy with the OE Ducati 3 ramp slipper. And before anyone says anything, I tried a good quality ball and ramp slipper clutch but I was unable to find its sweet spot so I have gone back to what I know. Andy

  11. Mine on Ebay
EVR Slipper Clutch, Ducati 1199, MTS1200, Monster 1200/1100 Evo, Diavel | eBay

As stated done around 100miles. Don't come much newer that isn't new.
And after market slipper clutches are far superior to mass produced units. Especially for track.

  12. Now that comes out of left field and begs a good question. Does the OP have a track bike with a dry or wet clutch ? Andy
