Just speaking with Carol Nash for a few quotes on different bikes. 'Does your 200mph race bike have a sidecar, trailer, or extra audio equipment?...'
I recieved a renewal call from CN only this week. I asked for CN not to bother me again for the very same reasons you've highlighted. Attempting to obtain an accurate quote from them in 2014 was painstaking. I wasted I would guess 3hrs all told. The call handler(s) did not have a clue and I had to explain the minutiae of many of the bike's components. Turned to Ducati Insurance instead which completed the quotation etc with little fuss.
CN are pretty useless IMO...... I had more or less exactly the same issues when it came to 'any modifications?' As I always advise an Insurer of any mods, I told them what had been done to the bike........and closed with: 'It is a 1997 750cc engine SSFF, but with a 900SS spec using standard/OEM parts, as the bikes are basically the same....it can also be an SSHF'..... £700 please...... .....P*ss off.
I asked CN if they would add a Diavel as a second bike to my Harley policy. Answer: not unless it's fitted with a Thatcham approved immobiliser. The one fitted as standard isn't and it's not recommended to fit an additional one with canbus electrics. CN wouldn't accept a tracker either! Ducati insurance: cheaper annual quote for both bikes, no additional security required!
Just added my HP2 to my C.N.Policy.took about 5 mins,no hassle, and was as cheap as chips including insured excess.I have been with them a few years now.must admit I nearly wet myself a few years back when asked if I was going to fit a sidecar to my MH900E.
A sidecar on an MH900E; that would be like asking the Louvre if they would like a moustache painted on the Mona Lisa... No problem adding an R1200R to my policy (at about the same value), they must have a problem with the Diavel for some reason.
