Since May I adjusted the chain only once at 2000 Km. Now at 12000 Km it is down a couple mm. It is a pain to take off those allens of the mudguard. How often do you adjust yours? Is there a quicker way to get to the chain adjusting disk?
I don't have the DVT model, but I adjust mine every 3-4K kilometers. As for the mud guard, I did a trick. I removed it once, after marking with a white marker, the point where the allen screw meets the guard arm. With a cylindrical file I've sanded a recess/dent to the size of my allen socket. I've put the guard back and now I don't need to remove it, ever again for doing a chain adjustment. I'll try and get a picture for you, next time I remove it for a good cleaning. You only need to do it for one of the screws, the other one is perfectly accessible.
a scotoiler will solve all problems and more than double the life of the chain and sprockets! plus you don't have to adjust the chain as often
These are the pictures I promised. The red arrows point to the dent I've made. It was flat at that point originally, exactly as the right side. The amount of mud/gunk I removed from the front sprocket area was unbelievable. I'll be trying the Tutoro oiler soon as Blairbiker suggested. I can't imagine myself trying to clean that again ...
