1200 DVT Sprung A Leak!

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Moonfruit, Feb 13, 2016.

  1. So, Ive sprung a leak, from what looks like a pretty ominous place. Looks like the gasket at the bottom end of the cylinder to my mickey mouse knowledge.

Anybody got idea if its gonna be a monster job to fix?

Forgive my shite photoshop skills with the red arrow!

  2. You have arrowed the cylinder head to barrel joint, not the barrel base gasket.

  3. Well, where that arrow is seems to be where the oil is coming from!

  4. Loving your arrow moonfruit. Don't go building yourself any walls if you think that's straight by your eye [emoji23]

I'd have said you'll have to get that in somewhere but hopefully it's just the seal. Bad leak or a few constant drops when running?

  5. I would guess its leaking above that point and just showing at that low point.

  6. It's booked in for Thursday, but I'm just hoping it's not gonna be sat in there for weeks while they strip it down and then sit and wait for parts coming!

I also thought it was coming from above there, was hoping it was too, but half an hour of close inspection and that seems to be it.

@JH, any wall that I built would be like the walls of Jericho!

  7. Are you sure its not coming from the cam cover and running down the cylinder block? The cam covers can weep a bit sometimes.

  8. I wish it was! But no trace of run down the block. It's clean as a whistle.
