Well that's the million dollar question at the moment. I'm happy to pay market value as when they are on the bike I'll sell my red ones, but I haven't seen any for sale anywhere so determining value is a little tricky. A chap in my other post mentioned that he got a grand for his, which to me seems excessive if I'm honest. If I thought I could get a grand for mine I'd stump up the extra £600 for some OZs. But I suspect realistically they're worth a few hundred less.
I'd have to take the wheels off and leave the bike on stands, which I don't have the stands, tools, skill or patience, and then wait for the OZ wheels seems to 4-8 weeks from what I've read. If I can get some standard wheels and get them coated I can then take them, with the bike, to the local garage and let someone competent sort the lot out. Then sell the original wheels and hopefully recover most of cash back. If that makes sense...
Just seems a messy way of doing it that's all. Why not just take your bike to whoever is going to remove the wheels and then take the wheels to be painted and then refit once they done. Most places won't take more than a couple of days.
You are right mate. I had some rearsets done years ago and that took ages. The local bike places around here are only small outfits and not sure they'd be keen on having the bike taking up too much time and space. But I should ask I suppose. That said, if I got black wheels I'd prob put them straight on and see how I liked it for the summer. That would be the ideal scenario I suppose. Are you going to sell yours?
Id not planned to sell my wheels as I try not to modify my bikes now but I would consider it if I could swap to OZ for not much cash.
