Hi Guys.... Went for a spin. Got home and found that the rear indicators had stopped working. Any ideas? Possibly a fuse but fronts are working, lights are working, tail light & brake light working. Just no rear indicators. Possible separate flasher relay for rears? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.....
The front indicators are driven from the dash, the rear ones from the BBS unit with Canbus communication between the dash and the BBS. I suggest the BBS is faulty.
Possibly both bulbs have failed coincidently. Quick and easy to replace so worth eliminating first and they do get a lot of vibration! I have had to replace a couple -though not at the same time.
Hi Derek. Thanks for the reply. re the BBS is that the BBS ABS control unit you refer to? Thanks Norm
No. In the manual it is referred to as a Vehicle Control Unit or BBS (Black Box System). It is located next to the ABS unit, in front of the battery. It's the slim black box with connector labelled 64 in this picture. The BBS handles the rear indicators, brake light, exhaust valve motor, gear sensor and fuel level sensor. It communicates with the dash via the canbus serial line.
Thanks again Derek. Sounds like that could be the problem. Seeing as the rear light, brake light etc are all working. Only the rear indicators mucking about i.e. not working ! Looks like I need to swap a unit with someone to confirm this. .
That should probably confirm it but on the 2013-14 models it also holds the mileage info which is used for resetting the mileage on the dash if it's replaced. I don't know if that would cause any problems or not.
Mine is an 11 plate and I have little to no knowledge of Ducati electrics nor electronics. I need to find out one way or another somehow. Not sure how to go about this. Best I go and have a long hard think about the best way to go about it all.
....and I live in South East England..! Bleedin' Sods Law...! But Thanks for the offer.! (I'm from Glasgow originally or shood ah sae Glesga !)
Solved the problem (hopefully) with the self cancelled rear indicators. By that I mean they decided to stop working! I removed the BBS unit and put it back again and this seemed to re-set things. I also had a jiggle around with the wiring to the BBS but found this to be sound. Hopefully this will assist anyone else that may encounter a similar problem.
