Hi on my Corse SE it's been very difficult to get it into Neutral when i'm at a stop. I thought, from the get-go, I had to break it in or as time or mileage goes, it'll get easier but nope. Anybody have any suggestions or comments regarding this? It's a new bike with under 300 miles on a clock. One more thing it does not light green 'N' while on neutral? Annoying on traffic lights cheers
Well you've got another 300 or so miles before it's first service, give the dealer a call so they can look at this at that time. Could be something really simple, bit of air in the clutch fluid not allowing the clutch to disengage properly and the neutral light have you checked the wire at the back of the engine near the swingarm, is it connected OK?
Sounds like the master cylinder needs bleeding. As mentioned above, the neutral could be down to the switch connections. One directly to the switch in the rear of th engine and/or the secondary one to the loom around the base of the rear cylinder RHS.
wires seems to be ok as Neutral light comes and goes. I think it might be more Neutral level - what I mean is if gear lever is not in exactly right place - Neutral light is not in. but when I move up and down gear lever slightly, Neutral light sometimes comes in. I have heard it is common thing with 848 Corse SE is it possible that Quick Shifter can cause it? or maybe shifting gear lever as well. Maybe has to be adgasted ? strange thing is when I keep bike moving then just before stop switch to neutral from 2nd is not a problem - while still bike is on move but when I stop on second or first gear I cant get it easy to Neutral. I will check lines for air - well I let dealer to bleed them if that is a case. cheers
What I did find on other forum: 'I have the same issue with my bike (neutral). If I know I'm coming to a stop, I kick it in neutral before I stop completely. It also helps me to rev it up before trying to shift in neutral if I am already stopped. <- Maybe someone else can explain if and why that helps. The light thing..I gently press down on the shift lever when I "know" I'm in neutral and it works every time. It seems that the light doesnt trigger unless it is in a precise position, more so than other bikes.' what you guys think about it?
Try this : If you are at standstill and can't go into neutral. Turn the engine off. Can you go into neutral then? If you can, then its the slave cylinder or master cylinder that needs rebleeding. If you can't, then look at the position of the gear lever to the link rod and the shaft. Is it at 90degrees? Could also be the angle of your lever where your shift is not positive enough. Although i think its more of the rebleeding, nothing to do with your qs.
Thanx Etherion Will do as you said. Will come with some answers next week (away working at the moment)
I have this problem on my 848 but I have the DP dry slipper clutch fitted and it only happened after the clutch was fitted. With regards the light, try poking the white plastic cap with a single black wire leading into it. It's at the back right hand side of the engine.
I initially had a trouble finding neutral on my 848 Evo Corse when I got it. There is most definitely a knack to it. And it seems to find neautral best from 2nd gear rather than first. So when I'm at lights and knock it down to 1st, I then knock it back up to 2nd at standstill then snick it into neutral from there
chain tension can also affect this, on my monster if chain is too loose and it can be hard to find neutral when stationary
