Anyone tried one of these? I'm thinking about buying the large size on, but seems a lot of money to last out if it doesn't work.
Hi Vespcati, Not tried a Calsci screen on a Multi, had the Ducati standard, Ducati touring, Ducati carbon short screen and MRA Vario screens on Multis and found the best one for me (6ft 2in) is the carbon short screen. Problem with a big screen like a Calsci is they cause back pressure on the helmet and head bobbing. I would recommend the short screen as it directs air to your chest and straight into your face but suppose that depend s on how tall you are? Do a search in here as there are lots of threads on the screens and which to use.
They work very well... no buffeting for me I had one but I didn't like it and sold it, it was VERY big and close to you. Puig screen with a deflector was better for me
Thanks for the info. I'm hoping the Calsci doesn't suffer from back pressure due to the cut out at the bottom of the screen. I noticed the new Africa Twin screen has a similar cut out and Honda usually know what they're doing.
It felt really close, close enough for you to catch your helmet on when you lean forward to get on the bike. Once you were on the bike I'd say the lip was maybe 700mm to 800mm away from your face. I was sure I'd put some comparison pictures up on the forum but I can't seem to find them. This was the one I bought from somebody here: http://ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/multistrada-bits.21699/ Another thread I posted: http://ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/calsci-screen.22496/ This is the one I had.
Very helpful info. Thanks. I have the palmer products screen adapter fitted with a standard screen at the moment and it has made quite difference. I can hear the sat nav and chat with wife through the bike com, whereas before fitting it, I could hardly hear anything it was so bloody noisy. I still think it could be better, so I'm hoping a calsci screen will do the job, also combined with the palmer adapter it might not be so close to my face. I think I'll order one and give it a try....
Sorry to hijack the tread (a little) but I have been considering the Palmer screen adjuster. The pics on the website do not really show it very well. Do you have any pics of it fitted to your bike? I am currently using some spacers from Big Stu with a MRA touring screen and big X screen (adjustable) deflector. It's still not quite what I was hoping for. Deaks
I don't have any photos of it at the moment, but if you can wait a couple of weeks I will post some. Me and my bike are having a long distance relationship at the moment. I hope to see her again soon. What I can tell you is at 6'2" with the standard screen tilted fully forward on the adapter and raised up nearly all the way it works quite well. I think partly because of the more upright screen position and partly because it creates a gap between the bike and the screen allowing air to pass under the screen thus reducing the pressure.
Glad to have helped: Eventually I found one of these was the best solution to the buffeting and wind roar, as you could adjust it to direct the flow higher or lower. Wunderlich VarioERGO screen deflector
Hi Deaks, sorry for the very late reply, but I only recently got back to UK and took some photos. Hopefully, they show the Palmer bracket clearly enough. With the Calsci screen it works very well. Surprisingly well, as I forgot to lower my helmet visor once, looked down and found I was doing 90mph! Before fitting the Calsci, even with the Palmer bracket, the wind noise would have forced me close the visor once I was over 60mph.
