Selling Sf848s Privately

  1. Hey,
Just anted som opinions, if the streetfighters will be a tough bike to sell on.
As I was told by someone from Ducati that they are struggling to move these on?
I was debating whether to just do the part ex and make the lose or sell privately, but think whether it will struggle to get enough interests.
Mines on 13 plate with 5,600, and most seem to be priced average 7-8k
    What's your thoughts?

  2. Try it for a couple of weeks privately and if you get no interest the p/x it :)

  3. Sold my SF848 recently. It went fairly quickly,it was a nice one with the right extras.

  4. Spring is here. Sales are waking up. Unless there's another bike with your name on it which you can't raise a deposit for and you need a P/X to avoid losing it, get it advertised privately before you think about a trade-in.

  5. If there is no rush...sell private....the weather is picking up so are prices and interests

  6. Thanks guys, I guess I was feeling right cause of hat Ducati were saying about the Streetfighter

  7. Thinking of swapping my SF848 for the KTM Superduke, anyone made this move?

  8. Should have been a little more specific - the Superduke 1290 R!

  9. Haven't swapped. Kept my 1098 SF and bought a 1290 SDR as well. :D
Had to have the Superduke but couldn't bear to part with the SF so I'll just have to struggle for a year or two and cancel the BST wheels for the Ducati...
You won't be disappointed. The 1290 is an epic bike. Its really not a case of more of the same with the SF. Except that they're both nakeds they really feel very different. The SF feels like what it is, a 6 year old Ducati sports bike with flat bars. It has the more aggressive posture of the two and it feels more sports bike-committed and single minded. The SDR is more day to day versatile. Its a lot more comfortable (and for its type the SF is far from bad). You can immediately tell its a purpose built road bike and not a converted sports bike. Its easier to ride and crucially its easier to ride fast. It it faster than the SF, it also turns faster and it feels lighter while managing to be roomier and more comfortable. Initially I thought the SDR had more wind blast but at speed they're really much the same. The SDR puts less strain on shoulders, wrists and hands. Its less tiring to ride all day. And it has mid range acceleration like nothing on earth. Well acceleration everywhere like nothing on earth.. The SF has slightly stronger (some might say fiercer) brakes and a much heavier clutch.

The SDR is faster, stronger and more sophisticated. The Streetfighter feels very analogue in comparison. Its more of an animal with its lack of electronics but that's part of its charm. It has a rawness about it, a sort of visceral brutality which makes it so exhilarating to ride. And then there's the noise.. I love em both.

  10. Of course I'm comparing a 1098 SF and a tweaked one at that. Coming from an 848 the 1290 engine will feel like a sledgehammer but the riding position should seem familiar and I bet you'd find it just as agile.
Only mods I plan other than a full Akra decat system is a change of tyres to M7RRs. The Sportsmarts don't inspire the same confidence. I'll get my money's worth and get them changed.

  11. Hi Gimlet, thanks for the info, really useful. The SF is a great bike, I think it is still one of the best looking bikes around. But it's hard to ignore the SDR and can't keep both unfortunately - decisions, decisions....! :confuse:

  12. There are still a handful of 65 plate SDRs about and with 16 plates in the showrooms and dealers pushing the new GT there some good discounts to be had. I paid 12k for mine.
Mine's just coming up to 1000 miles so running in is competed and its now getting the full berries. I already knew what an awesome engine its got but the handling is really impressing. The front feels more planted than I remember from my test rides. That was on a 2014 bike. Maybe they've changed something. And I haven't touched the suspension yet or changed the tyres.

I hate to say this on the Ducati forum when someone is contemplating moving to orange, but the SDR is a staggeringly good bike.
Have you test rode one yet?
If you do go for it. Get the dongle so you set the TC to off. And don't forget that orange ones are faster...:D

  13. Not ridden it yet although planning to get a test ride arranged sometime soon - worry is orange fever is likely to be catchy and there will be no way back after that!

    Thanks again for the info.
