Respect 125 Riders?

  1. OK so we don't nod to Harley riders, scooters, etc. but what about 125's?

Spare a thought for them, they are the future of motorcycling. They have no incentive to pass a test and get rid of L plates, as they can only get off their 125cc bikes when they turn 19 yrs and even if they pass the test on 125cc bike they still have to take the A2 (£500+) to move onto 500cc or other A2 compliant bike. That's if they haven't already got fed up and gone to a car. It's almost as if someone in Government had designed a motorcycle test regime to get all motorcyclists off the road in the future.

I passed a 125 last weekend without a gesture and then felt really bad. I was lucky and could jump on a fast 250cc bike at 17 yrs and then take my test.

So a request; Next time you see some poor teenager on a 125 with L plates, give a nod and make him feel part of the motorcycling community. We are an endangered species!

I have two sons on 125's and the eldest, having turned 19yrs, is just starting to take his A2. Not many make it that far. I still remember riding to Wales on a Gilera 50cc moped loaded up and got a wave from a "proper" motorcyclist, it was a great feeling.

  5. I always wave or nod. It was always a nice feeling to get a nod or a wave off another biker when I was on my 125cc.

  6. I'm like a nodding dog some days. Two wheels and a lid, quick nod to acknowledge they are riding in shit weather just like me.

  11. Motorcyclists acknowledge other motorcyclists - END OF - If you don't you're not and if they don't they're not! It's simple :)

  19. I nod to anyone who seems friendly :)

There's a guy on a 125 yamaha on my commute who I went past over a bridge in my dream the other day doing a rather long mono after a stressful dream day at work. I hardly even noticed he was there as I was just having some fun. He came whizzing past me ten minutes later through a load of traffic on a death wish giving me the finger because he had 'beat me in the race up the road'!!

  20. I wave to anyone on anything with 2 wheels and a motor. I'm a complete tart that way. If someone doesn't wave back I don't worry about it because sometimes I don't notice other bikers until is too late to wave. I figure it's probably same for them. Well, mostly. There's the look but don't wave or nod people. I find that a bit odd but they probably don't have any friends so don't understand the concepts involved.
