1200 DVT Vertically Challlenged

  1. Ok so I love my Multi, base model, but it's always been a struggle cos I'm a shortarse. Knee problems are making me think about a change. IIRC I text rode one with leccy suspension a couple of years ago, urbane mode makes it drop a bit? Does skyhook and the DVT models both do this? I've sat on a bmw s1000 xr and that felt low enough, but the engine has too many cylinders... mt09 tracer can be lowered with dog legs, if the knees get any worse.
Any fellow short people (I'm 5'8" ish) have any thoughts?

  2. Hi,
Yes the dvt skyhook does lower the bike in urban mode, not sure by how much through

  3. I am 5' 7" with a 26.5" inside leg

Use touring mode and lower seat

In town I switch to urban which gives maybe another 3/4"

I also use boots with thick soles

  4. Apart from the standard riding modes you can lower the bike by modifying the riding modes.

  5. I am 1.59 meters tall and with low seat and some fat soles on boots me I can make do quite well

  6. I am also 5'8" ish and with the DP seat (narrower) get by OK. The DVT is however noticeably lower than mine and the seat can also be dropped even more; from 845mm to 825mm. I could put my feet down flat both sides when I test rode one.

Suggest you go and sit on the DVT and you'll see how much lower it is compered to yours (with the seat down).

  7. Agree - I'm 5'6" I have a Pikes Peak 14 which is good with skyhook but will change to a DVT because of the seat height alone - can flat it with no problem with standard seat

  8. I am watching this thread as my next addition might be a Multi and I also have short legs fitted. But a question, what is a DVT and a non DVT, I know that skyhook is the electronic suspension, but I thought that DVT was to do with the engine. Are you guys saying that the frame changed too? I would be looking for about a 2014 or later.

  9. Thanks all, looks like DVT is the way to go. Better have a word with the bank - Dear Fascist Bully Boy etc etc

  10. Yes different frame and a lot of other changes apart from the DVT engine. Not many parts are carried over. Engine is incredibly smooth but falls well short of the claimed 160 horses. Full Termi improves on the dip in mid range torque but may be worth looking at others as they become available. That said it is still a very quick bike and the handling is even better than the earlier fine handling Multi.

Right, time to go out for a ride now the Sun's out!

  11. There are two entirely different models, the 2010-14 model and the 2015-16 model. They are only vaguely similar. Differences include the engine, the frame, the suspension, the brakes, the exhaust, the bodywork, the lighting, the instruments, the controls, the electronics, and the seating position. Few parts are carried over. Ducati have been a bit naughty in calling both these very different bikes by the same name, the "Multistrada MTS 1200". The later model has come to be commonly known as the "DVT".

  13. The new version has a lower seat height (which is adjustable)

  14. If you live in the Midlands and looking to buy a Mutley go to Ducati Stoke, as their service is head and shoulders above both Coventry and Wolverhampton.
I found the Sales Manager at Coventry lacking in knowledge of the MS and when corrected he got very arsey, so he didn't get my sale!
In contrast Simon and all the staff at Ducati Stoke are very helpful and respond very quickly to any calls and emails.
Simon even answered my email on his day off!
When I asked to book the MS demo they let me have the bike for the whole day and with the Peak District within 20 miles what was there not to like !!

    Desperado

  16. Blimey ! You don't mess about do you lol. I take it you liked the bike then ?

  17. I sure did. Feet almost flat on the ground and more of a stretch to the handlebars = done deal.
