  1. hello a friend with a Diavel has just installed Ohlins forks & rear shock...but he's having an issue getting the settings right ohlins standard settings are some what too stiff making him pogo a it so does anyone have any experience or settings that they have found to work on a English B road

    Thanjs

  2. Sorry for spelling had a few beers

  3. I had a similar experience when I rode a standard Diavel. The preload on the rear shock had been set to almost maximum, backing it off to the mid-setting gave a much more compliant ride.

  4. Looks like he's going to change the front springs

  5. I think he would be best to go and get a suspension house to sort it for his weight and riding style. Having spent that much cash on replacement units another few hundred pounds getting is set up properly would be worth it, FTR are very good but i am sure other places are around. I've got an Ohlins rear and Andrenie front and after messing about myself I got some professional help, they put different springs in, on the rear a short but stiffer spring and they re valved it, the bikes rides so much better.

  6. He spoke to someone at silverstone today after he spend all day yesterday trying to sort it out he said it felt like it Pogoed ,after spending £3000 it's not what you d expect the springs the front is a 10 not sure about the rear so the people whom he bought & fitted them will exchange them from some others so he's just trying to get some advice over which ones 9.0-8.5 he thought the standard a it soft so he s thinking 9.0 we will have a play with the front first then if no joy then we will look at the rear which model rear do you have ?

  7. My Diavel is a Gen 1, 11 plate, I don't know which model shock it is, I thought Ohlin’s only made one for Diavel. I am 95kgs all up with riding gear and I have a 100Nm spring put in it that was ~15mm shorter than the Ohlin spring that Harris Performance sold me. The problem with the spring that they sold me was I could not get the sag correct, I was running no preload and getting about 5mm of sag, it was bouncy as hell even on max damping. The stiffer but shorter spring gives me the correct sag at about the midpoint of adjustment so I can adjust for touring weight, the re valve was required for the higher spring rate. To me it was all wrong, but when I rode the bike the rear feels bottom less, smooth travel and plants the rear end just great in the corners and on bumpy roads. Not sure about the front end, mine is good now, the stock was way too stiff, these bikes are raked out so it will never be sports bike sharp
