I'm looking for a battery for 749 (mounted sideways) and I'm wondering if the type in Halfords, Yuasa YT12B-BS is suitable. What concerns me is that although titled 'sealed battery', I must add the acid and then put on the permanent cap myself. How good do these seal? Yuasa website says it's not recommended for an AGM battery that is user sealed to be positioned sideways and recommend obtaining a factory sealedversion of the battery. Any experience? Thanks
That is correct battery, this is probably to cover themselves, theres been a couple of claims . MD batteries Enfield are cheap with nx day post.
Never say never but mine certainly didn't. The idea is that the glass mat absorbs the acid and then you seal it as well, so as long as you don't make a pigs ear of it should be just fine. Make sure you give enough time for the glass mat to absorb the acid though
I filled a Yuasa, left on its side overnight, had a tiny puddle, less than 1/2 a teaspoon, tapped it further in with a hammer and a bit if wood. Left for a few more days, no further leaking.

I'm sure they're not counterfeit, just wondering how come they are so cheap. So much stuff is made in a China these days but if they are, I wonder if they are generic batteries that have many different brand names printed on them for different markets or if they are manufactured to Lucas specs on their behalf. Not that it really matters if they do the business. Ironic though, if Yuasa batteries are made in Wales and Lucas batteries made in China...
