Intermittent Slipping Clutch

  1. Any experience out there as to what might cause an intermittent slipping clutch on a GT1000?
Runs fine from cold and next 25 miles, then releasing clutch won't engage gear. Eventually "jumps" into gear, then runs fine again. Bike has 13000 miles and regularly serviced.

  2. Try bleeding your clutch. Could it be air ?

  3. I had very similar symptoms last year - may be worth checking the handlebar switchgear position.
On mine, the switchgear had moved to the right (towards the forks) and the clutch lever was catching on the edge of it. Wish I'd discovered this before stripping the entire clutch down !!
Happened on the way down to Le Mans so there I was outside my tent with clutch plates and bits everywhere and a few basic tools purchased at Carrefour. Still, gained some kudos points with the surrounding enthusiastic French guys :)

  4. Thanks both, job for the weekend

  5. Just out of curiosity, ever find out what the cause was ?
