Hi all, just spent the day at Maxton who had built me a new shock. they couldn't undo the lower shock bolt on the original to fit it. They bent a snap on socket! Their solution was to take the swing arm out and to have the bolt particle electroded, or something, which could take weeks. Anyone else had this problem? Any solutions, any help from dealers in the south? Dave
I had the same problem, it's not seized it's just very very tight, I swapped my spring 4 weeks after getting the bike brand new. I made a long alen key from a Facom allen key set fitted it to a socket 10mm I think, then boiled pans of water and kettles full and slowly poured it into and around where the bolt would be in the swinging arm until I couldn't keep my hand on it then managed to get it undone there was no way it would have come out with out the heat. I guess you could use a blow torch but I didn't want to risk damaging the coating on the arm.
Thanks JC, they did suggest heat but there are hoses and lines around it. Glad you got it off, although mine is 3 years old and used in winter - fingers crossed!
