So trying to sort hyper suspension out. All in all principles are simple. Setup static sag then fine tune. But..... static sag. What should it be. Many say, plus internet, that it should be about 25-30mm front and 30-40mm back. Here is a twist they all seem to be basing them on sports bike. Few websites say it should be based on % of total usable suspension travel. 30% allegedly good starting point for road if not soft side. As such 25% travel at front would mean sag of 46mm sag Rear would be 43mm Is that correct? At the moment I have setup rear as about 27mm Front about 32mm but know where is the setting for 45mm. What ya think? I like the rear that hard but do not know how it will affect handling?
Sag/Preload should have no effect on harshness of the ride..... Would be nice to know as I get my hyper next week.... I've always set my other bikes to 30% but they were Supersport 600 bikes so I'm not sure if the value carries over to the Hyper suspension setups
No idea front spring rates but they are linear. Rear is to soft and stock so no info by Ducati. Tried looking for markings, no luck. Sent from my ONE A2003 using Tapatalk
Have you adjusted the Compression damping on the read ? Which Hyper is it ? I'd only say the spring is too soft it the lock rings are wound all the way down and you still cant get 30% sag
It's a 821 so compression and pre load. I am at 27mm at back can go down to 21mm Sent from my ONE A2003 using Tapatalk
I did before making changes. 220 unloaded, 215 bike loaded at front. Unloaded back was 400 and bike loaded 395. With me on bike it was 170 front and 350 rear. Sent from my ONE A2003 using Tapatalk
I'd set both ends at 30% sag, cable tie round the fork leg then give it it a run for a bit and see how much travel you are using.... The only bad side to more sag is less ground clearance and possibly bottoming out.... If you arent attacking every corner and riding off the edge of the tyres a bit more or less isnt going to make that much difference Also where are you measuring rear sag ?
My usual way is all suspension back to factory settings Sag to roughly 30% then tweak the sag, compression and rebound to suit I'd go for feel over hitting exact numbers for settings all day...
