As the title says, its a 2011 model. I struggle to launch it (in anger) without the front heading skyward - its new to me and my other bike is a 996. I know riding position, and BHP are very different. So can I just gas it and hope the electronics save my bacon?
No... No, no, no, no, NO :tearsofjoy: Do not just gas it and hope, the old multi's have zero anti wheelie other than your right wrist and your rear brake (some don't even have that). Once you get used to it you'll be fine, as well as learning to love it
I don't know about anyone else, but I find the bike to be utterly bonkers in Sport mode - it's almost too mental!! Wheelies don't appear to be an issue for me, but then I'm 16st.
It doesn't have anti-wheelie, but the TC will stop it raising the front from mid-to-high values, lower the TC to 1 or 2 or off.
I have always assumed this to be the case. As the front wheel comes up it slows down relative to the rear wheel and TC kicks in. Anyone put it to the test ?
Well I know from friends experience that works over the mountain at cadwell on an 848 evo with TC. He had to turn it off
Now I'm confused, so on the DVT the traction control and anti wheelie are both indirectly doing the same thing ? It has 8 TC and 8 anti wheelie settings, how on earth can they work together without affecting each other ?
The DVT model has a device for detecting the attitude of the bike. If it detects the front rising up, this triggers the anti-wheelie system (depending on the setting) to bring it back down, regardless of the relative speeds of the wheels' rotations. The pre-DVT model does not have attitude detection, so the traction control system depends on the changing relative speeds of the two wheels. At least, that's my understanding - if anybody knows better, please tell us.
Sounds right from what I know Pete. If you were to really push the old multi, TC wouldn't be able to do its thing fast enough to save you as the front could still be spinning fast enough not to fall into your TC setting range. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm on a 2014 S GT, with an altered Mivv exhaust, and to be honest if I open the throttle fast in 1st 2nd or 3rd and just hold it as I hit 8k rpm the front comes right up I think my record coming off a certain roundabout near me is about 150 mtr and no sign of the TC killing it.
My 13 MY multi had no issues lifting the front, dtc set to about 2, and being up long enough to get thru a few gears
