1200 30k Desmo Service

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by RMRH, May 7, 2016.

  1. Hi,

The 30k Desmo service light has come on and as the bike is way out of any warranties etc I'm considering using David Robinson in Wandsworth for the work.

The alternative would be Metropolis in Vauxhall
(or any other recommendation in South West London ?).

Any views or feedback on dealer experiences please ?

    Cheerz

  2. How much are you being quote out of interest?

  3. Ducati Pro Team in Kent seem to get good reviews and they collect. That's where mine will be going soon for its second desmo service (first was done FOC by dealer).

  5. I take it you want to save some dosh in main dealer fees...never heard of david robinson but I did try md racing in Walton on thames, surrey. In the end their prices weren't too different from main dealer, in fact I suspected that they were more...and was difficult to get hold of them so went back to main dealer snells/moto rapido.

would be interested in hearing about any other non-official but not as expensive places..

  6. 30k Desmo service
Pro Twins quote £850>£900 (£55ph labour charge)
David Robinson Quote £750 (£65ph labour charge)
    Go figure....

  7. It's not all about saving dosh but it would be good of course
More about having some trust in the relationship and getting a good job done and not having to shlep miles to get it done.

I've been impressed by ProTwins in the past but they are in the middle of nowhere and don't do loan bikes...

I've been to see David Robinson place in Wandsworth and it looks like a well managed Ducati specialist place, (and it's on my way to work...)

I'll update on how it goes

  8. Picked mine up today, Desmo service plus extra 1/2 hr labour to sort rocker retaining bolt oil leak - £855.

Should get another 3 years cheap riding out of it now, fingers crossed?

  9. Where was that, dealer or independent?

  10. Ducati Wolverhampton, only ever used them for my Dukes, so nothing to compare against price wise?

  11. I found a similar thing in Sydney, Australia. I got my service done at an "independent" mechanic and it cost just as much as the dealer and I don't reckon they did as good a job (they didn't even adjust the chain). I should have known when I first went there.....the workshop was not overly tidy or clean (unlike the dealers workshop which is spotless). As far as "relationship' goes, they weren't even that friendly.....not that that really worries me as I don't want to screw them (that's what they do to us), I just want a good service at a fair price. I'll be going back to the dealers.

  12. Got my bike back from David Robinson Ducati specialist in Wandsworth and have to say I'm very happy with the personal service and price. I'll be going back there rather than Metropolis every time.

  13. Do they reset the service trip and update your software?

  14. The service message was indeed reset.
As I run a Rexxer map I didn't want any Ducati updates so sorry don't know.

  15. yup, i found the same with MD racing. their prices are the same as Snells. and Snells are good at what they do, so no reason to switch whatsoever

  16. 3 years .....I wish :D

Mine had 5000 miles on it in August when I bought it, now has 12000 miles and is going in early for belt service as I have a 6000 mile trip planned so when I get back it will be a few weeks off an oil service and only probably another 12 months off the next belt service :D

All work will be done by my local Ducati main dealer, Seastar near Norwich as they have looked after me through assorted bikes ownership long before I bought my first Ducati
