Noticed this on eBay, looks an easy enough repair, what's it worth ? 2015 DUCATI MULTISTRADA 1200 S DAMAGED SPARES OR REPAIR ***NO RESERVE*** (8938) | eBay
Not a lot, you will have to declare it CAT for insurance purposes, you won't be able to part ex it, and I would never knowingly buy any CAT D or C no matter how good a price, because it will be bloody difficult to shift on later. It is a premium bike, and its going to put a lot of people off with CAT D. However if you keep it for many many years then it could be a bargain. All I can say is most people on this forum would probably say leave it.
The breaker has form for shill bidding, he will get what he wants for it, wife - son - daughter - bro - mates - even the fecking dog will bid it up for him .
As said above fella if you are going to keep a cat d they can be absolute bargains, my 848 has been amazing had it three years and it's cat d but might be selling it soon due to illness if I cannot get it to fit me right ,,I'll get an rvf ...cat c is different mind
On the face of it the damage looks cosmetic? But why then a write off? Picture 2 makes the forks look like they're bent forwards and I'd still think there was more than meets the eye!
That looks like nothing! It'd be worth breaking it for parts. The dash, ECU's and engine alone will get you your money back (possibly not on second thoughts but still worth it).
There'd be some irony there - buying a cat D for the dash. There's a rumour you could scratch a DVT dash by blinking too hard near it.
Just what I was thinking. looking at it all I can see is a dented down pipe a broken mud guard that most ppl take off any way and a few scratches, I'm not sure if the seat looks out of line to the under panel which might mean the rear sub frame is bent but nothing a large hammer and a block of wood wouldn't sort out. There must be some reason it's going to cost more to fix then buy a new one.
Cat d can be plastic damage maybe a lever, engine casing scuffed.I had an 848 a few years ago that got knocked over in leeds by a fella who was knocking his mrs about as a result she knocked my bike over.. Engine casing scuffed, few scratches to plastics, snapped brake lever really hardly anything else but it was something like £1500 to £1700 to fix I don't remember the exact figure but it was mad.
My 848 was knocked over by a neighbour who clipped the front wheel whilst parking. Scuffed RH fairing, engine casing scuffed, tip of the termis scuffed and the pair were slightly wonky. That was literally it and they Cat C'd it. I bought it back for something ludicrous (cheap) and sold it on for about £800 profit. Couldn't believe it was a C and not a D. This guy does indeed appear to be shill bidding: his bidders have had 20-75% of all their recent bidding activity with him as the seller.
