Hi All, I ride (when it works) a 2010 faultistrada and got a FAN RELAY ERROR yesterday. Simple I know, replace the relay. Well I found the part number (541.4.010.1A) but figured I could just go online and order one for next day delivery. Looking online, I can find no UK sellers for this relay. Does anyone know the tech specs of these relays so I can find a suitable alternative that's not going to charge $25 delivery on an $8 relay. Obviously I could call dealers but from what I have found out, there is absolutely no need to pay Ducati dealer prices for a bog standard electrical relay.
I can't imagine a relay would be confined to just the Multi and is probably the same on other models. Have you tried any breakers?
It's not just confined to the multi. There are bundles that would work, it's just that searching on tinterwebs gives me all sorts of results of varying voltages and ampages. One would assume 12v, yet looking at some pics of the actual relay, some show 14v 1a?
Can you get at the actual failed relay and identify the specification that way? It maybe 14v because charging voltage is 13.6 or something like that.
Don't get too hung up on the spec. All auto relays are a nominal 12v, unless they're for truck in which case they could be 24V. Make sure that it is rated for the same current or more. I carry a spare under the seat. I simply went to a local car auto-electrics place, showed them the relay and asked for an equivalent. I got a similar micro relay with the same contacts and current rating for less than a fiver. Here are a few online you can choose from: 12V Micro Relays Micro Relays Micro Relays: Polevolt Ltd
I replaced all (4) of the common fan / headlight relays on my 1098R a few months back after the headlight one failed. For the sake of £4 each, it seemed a sensible thing to do. I also keep a spare in my tail unit.
That's the problem with Ducati, everyone moves on after a short period. If we all kept our bikes for 5+ years, they'd have to improve quality as we wouldn't stand for it. I'll be going back to orange (KTM) when I get rid of this. Did try a scrambler Saturday and it was amazing. Just won't do the 2 up touring.
The XR? That's on the list to try but I mustn't try it until next year just in case I really like it!
