Is all new vehicles fitted with hands-free or is that an extra? Taking calls must be a distraction, regardless of having hands-free. I don't take calls on the bike, but I suppose in an emergency, it might be helpful.
Following this with interest. Way I see it is it's us against them. If I report someone for Texting/Phoning, chances are they won't do it again and therefore maybe they won't kill me or my kids or some else's with their fucking selfish, ignorant, dangerous driving. Lives are at stake here and that outweighs any notion of not being a grass or a rat. Fuck 'em, report 'em all before they kill anyone else.
You could film every single one of them on their phones on a go pro on a daily basis, hand it over to the plod and they’d want nothing to do with it. What makes people think their bosses are any different?
Report to his company. I did it to a removals van / company. The driving was horrific and I said to the company that " if that's the sort of driver they use I and others that see him wouldn't use them" I'm not frightened and give them my name and number and a day later the owner of the company rung and thanked me . It's just not acceptable any more .

I don't talk on the phone when driving, certainly don't text. Not since I got the iphone, it's much easier to email.
Hmmmmmmmmm. I think it's pretty obvious what this piece of equipment is for. It potentially has many sinister uses. If you don't want to speak to a pesky caller, end the phone call on the phone currently in your hand. Why would you reach for a blocking device? It's a bit like selling legal highs as "research chemicals", everyone knows the real use. Anybody caught with one deserves the book thrown at them.
life ban for texting whilst driving.. its the only way these idiots will learn...if the need to tell someone what you are up to is so great. pull over and call them. end of really
Agree completely. Why are such paltry fines imposed for something so potentially deadly. How many people would risk it if it was a £10k fine for a first offence and lifetime ban for a second??
Whatever did we do before mobile phones came along I'm not sure what would prevent people using them apart from locked in boot that way there are no ifs or buts it's clear and simple
Exactly. Imagine having to actually stop your car somewhere to use a phone. People would go into meltdown. There’s nothing stopping car manufacturers blocking the use of all phones in cars but that would take a) someone to give a shit about the issue b) the government to enforce it as law and c) mobile phone and car manufacturers to comply and not moan about profits.
