You sound like you know your sheet! You're correct re suspension set up, I've been struggling with the front end for a while now. Couldn't sort it so had dealer look at it, they've diagnosed a fooked left fork internal. (no compression) Probably going to replace the complete leg, apparently they're not allowed to pull the internal on the left leg apart. so the plan is finish off rear, replace rubber and have suspension setup as off to the B500 in July
Just ordered some Roadtec 01's based in a 180/55 withou thinking, looked after and saw there is a 190/50 option. The stock scorpions are 190/55. which size is preferred and why?
Yeah I saw that, but 95% am solo with light luggage so not needed. Which size is correct, 180/55 or 190/50, might be time to change my order if i've made a mistake!
Cool just called to change the order, typically the 190/55 will take 2 weeks to deliver and cost and extra £15! Looking forward to testing these, read a lot of great reviews
Hi, going to fit some new tyres for a European tour this year on my standard DVT. Considering Metz road tech 01, would I need to go for the "HWM" version? Will be riding solo, but with full luggage.
I've got the RoadTechs and was told by the tyre specialist that HWM is for the big touring bikes. He laughed when I asked. They're fantastic tyres, BTW
Wtf are you doing to them?! I got 4K+ from rear and 9k front on my pr4s. And the scorpions are very average tyres. Try supercorsas
So that's a "NO" then is it? They don't count the Multi as a "big touring bike". Plenty big enough for me!
I'm currently 3000 miles into a set of cheapo Maxxis Diamonds. Great tyre, grippy enough to predict slides. They go proper tacky to the touch after a good ride. Won't get many more miles out of this rear though, looks like I've been on track with them. They are a seriously steep profile, took a few miles to get used to the falling off a cliff feeling. Only fit them as was in a major rush for an MOT and they were £130 for the set. At £130 and an estimated 3750-4000 miles (based on current wear), I could fit 2 sets and do bloody well. Will probably end up back on the scorp 2's though. I think they're a fantastic tyre. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
R01 with 1300 km in a round for attending XIII meeting of Ducatistas DOC in Spain. Really good tyres, very stable, rigid and predictable. Not sure if aging will be the best one, but first impressions are really good. Keep you updated.
Just had my PR4 front go off on me during a trip through Spain/Portugal. The profile flattened off from the corners and then the treads started to cup and made the front feel very vague in the corners. I've never had this problem previously with PR3's and was a bit disappointed to the point of going for a change to Angel GT/Metzler Z01? Anyone know what could have caused this? Have not changed any suspension settings for years (Multistrada 1200 2010).
Have pr4 by on my BMW RT. The rear OK but front cupping and uneven wear. Will not use again. The angel gt was much better with good grip and long mileage, at least for that bike. I figure my standard suspension mts would do worse on front due to fork dive.
