1098 engine management light

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by timberwolf, Oct 22, 2012.

  1. Managed to get out with a bunch of mates on saturday and stretch the 1098's legs. Being used to riding a gsxr1000 i got a little carried away at one point and bounced it off the limiter with all the lights flashing at me. I did not think this would be a problem and had a word with myself. After probably another 20 miles or so i noticed the engine management light on. I pulled over and switched off. I started her up after a few seconds and no light. It did not come on again after that. Is this normal behaviour? Would the data be stored as to why it lit up? Is it difficult to plug into a pc or usb stick etc?
    Thanks

  2. Ducatidiag will be able to view and clear the error history log in the ecu.

It's been covered quite a few times before so I won't go into detail, but it will cost you less than £20 for the leads you need.

  3. My EM light cam on on a blast up the A41 to Aylesbury. After I stopped breifly the light didnt come back and hasnt come on since. Ducatitagf is a good idea as Anth has mentioned, but if your on good terms with your Ducati dealer, pop in and they'll be able to help. For me, it normally only costs me a coffee for the mechanic :upyeah:

  4. Phil do jave a look in the manual as to what exactly could be the problem which triggered the light/ sensor. There is a list of 6-7 things which could be the problem. Sometimes we think its sth and it could also be sth else.

  5. I tried to download the ducatidiag dooingz but am failing miserably. I want to get it downloaded afore I purchase the leads. I am also going to have to get a laptop methinks.

  6. A laptop will make life possible.....otherwise the bike needs to be about 2ft from the pc, a bit of a pisser if the PC is upstairs.....order the cables, I'll PM you a link to the software that works, it is on the Ducatidiag site, but pretty well hidden away.
